Hello I've been a longtime lurker on the nexus but I have finally made an account because
I have done a couple extractions now and while I think I am kind of getting it I have a few questions that I was hoping someone with a little more experience can answer.

First i will start by explaining my TEK:

1. Dissolve lye into water then add mhrb with a ration of 1:15:1 then i let itsit for a while.
2. Add approx 100-200 ml xylene and let it sit in the bath for about a while rolling it around every 15 minutes or so
3. I decant the xylene and add fasa. I let it sit for about a day. The bottom of the glass jar will have a bunch of crystals stuck to it and often there will be some sort of goo floating around. I have a pretty hard time getting the goo out it goes straight through my 100 micron screen.
4. Convert fumerates to freebase with sodium carbonate. I use acetone to remove freebase from sodium carbonate
5. Wash with heptane

Questions:
1. How are my ratios for lye to mimosa to water?
2. Whats better many small extractions or a few big ones? 200 grams vs 50 grams?
3. Is there a way I can recycle my fasa. I already have found myself having to buy more acetone.
4. Sometimes I use water to get the crystals stuck to the bottom of jars. They are usually fumerates. I put the water in a bowl and put that bowl into a pot of pretty much boiling water. My understanding is that the melting point of dmt fumerate is around 170 degrees celcius whereas water boils 99 degress celcius. I'm not destroying any alkaloid right?

Any other tips, comments or criticisms would greatly be appreaciated.
Also I would just like to say thanks to everybody on here. I know very little about chemistry but have been very successful with my extraction thanks to your posts

2 Small extractions 50-150g extraction if its your first time , 2-300g if you already got your process down well
3 The FASA that was added to the xylene is `lost`. Though the xylene can be washed with water after retrieving your alkaloids to remove the FASA from it, so you can reuse the xylene. Keep and evap the first wash because it will have alkaloids in it, together with some impurities. Later you can clean it up.
4 Yeah boiling water is totally fine with fumarates

Another tip: Dont wait just a day for fumarates to precipitate after adding FASA, wait at least 3 days, and then add a bit more FASA to it and see if it gets cloudier again, if so wait a few more days again.

thanks. Im assuming you mean evaporate the water after washing the xylene. Wont this leave me with a bunch of fumaric acid as well?

Yes, but then you can purify by making paste with sodium carb and water, letting dry and pulling with acetone or IPA or alcohol.. Or you can simply attempt a water crystallization by redissolving in minimal amount of warm water and adding a bit of sodium carbonate saturated solution and leaving in the fridge for a 3-5 days.

Just a potential way to get the last little bit of alkaloids in case you left something behind.

Why is it that people take dmt fumerate and make a paste with sodium carb. could i just dissolve the fumerate in h20 and slowly add sodium carb? This would save me the trouble of evaporating the water i use to get the fumerate stuck to the jar

Yes you can, thats what I said with my second sentence

Don`t add sodium carbonate directly to the dmt fumarate solution though, better add a sodium carbonate saturated solution to it, to avoid excess sodium carbonate.
