I know that when growing Acacias or Mimosa Hostillis that they are traditionally grown for harvest outdoors once they reach a certain height and I'm also aware that young trees don't have nearly as high of an alkaloid content, however I was wondering if would be worth it to grow perhaps an Acacia Simplex indoors to a height of 6 or 8 feet in a 5 or 7 gallon pot and then harvest it. Would the alkaloid content at that age be pretty much worthless given the amount of work it would take to grow ittothat maturity/would the roots not be able to grow sufficiently in that confined of a space?

..definitely worth it! Smile
there's a few pics of acacias being grown indoors in The Top 8 Acacias to Grow thread..
it takes about 1 and a half to 2 years to reach full alkaloid content..

for great indoor advice see Vodsel's thread: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...osts&t=38453&p=1

Here is my indoor mimosa..it looks lacking right now, because I had to cut it down from 6 feet to 4 feet and trim a lot of bushy side branches off in order to fit it into my car to move..and then I left her and my other plants without lights for almost 2 weeks becasue I got really depressed over issues I was having and stopped doing things..but now with lights and water she is comming back and putting out new growth again and should bush out in no time. You can def grow these plants indoors.

I harvest branches when I trim it..I have a jar of chopped up branches. Once I have 100g dry I will extract them.

That's wonderful news. Deffers think I have two years worth of patience Big grin

Do y'all think consistently pruning it just for the conservation of space in mah garden could affect the alkaloid production or should that be consistent as long as said tree is kept well fed and happy?
