My cat has been evaporating an ACRB acidified brew in a crock pot over the past few days. He went to work and left it on for too long and now it looks like melted red plastic at the bottom. Will this affect his results after he scrapes it up and basifies? He is concered about evaporating too long causing degradation of desirable alkaloids. Or worse, the acetic acid break down and free basing the dmt causing it to evaporate. It looks like cooling molten lava flows and the less evaporated spots are like taffy. While the more evaporated spots are crusty and dusty. "for I have sworn upon the altar of god eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." -Thomas Jefferson

I think as long as you mean evaporated, rather than boiled, then you are a'ok. If you boil past the point of having any liquid, then you end up heating the alkaloids to a point above the boiling point of the liquid, in which you seriously risk ruining the alkaloids.

Well it was hot but still sub boiling, but very close to boiling. Luckily the crock pot only has 2 settings, low and high. He scraped it all up the best he could and added vinegar + iso to try and re dissolve the sludge and re evaporate it. So far its still evaporating in a pyrex dish. He plans on basing with lime and pulling with more iso to hopefully salvage whatever is left. My cat has seen other posts here in the nexus about dmt flosting on the surface, and it looking basically like oil. With a rainbow shine to it. He indeed sees that but its difficult to take a picture of. Hopefully its not just some plant oils he hasnt seen before. Because it will form a shiny layer all the way across the dissolved goo. I simply meant whether it was evaporated without heat, or with heat. I`d say there's no harm in adding liquid, and adding base and extracting, to see what results, it's about your only card at this point.

Follow up: He is sure by now it was ruined from excess evaporating. The acetic acid must indeed break down at sub boiling temperatures. Hes thinking of going with another 100 grams of starting material and using stb. This was his first time going through all the steps of a full A/b and although it hasnt yielded anything it was a valuable experience. DMT in its salt form is much more resilient to heat than freebase form. No reason to chuck it. Very likely that you simply need to hydrate it and keep going. "Energy flows where attention goes" [Please review the forum Wiki and FAQ before posting questions]

Well that is a possibility. But everything got spilled into a towel by accident. To see if it could be salvaged the the towel was squeezed into water and left to sit. Today floating in the water was puffy white clouds but I dont know what it is. Looks like cotton or fungus. Curious to see where this ends up, keep up posted with how the basic extraction of the towel liquid goes hehe.

The water was filtered through the THP, the residue on the cotton pads looks like some foamy emulsion rather than crystals. Do to lack of experience its unclear what it is. All the cotton filters were saved from this experiment. A few pulls from them should give something to work with. Some test trips from like an aquarium store will used next time. As well as seeningly easier to work with solvents like naptha and xylene. Also lye instead of lime for the base so I don't have to evap so much. But ill probably stay with vinegar for the acid. Well it seems I spoke too soon. Ill post pictures when its done but I can already see something precipitatating from the last ipa pull. Although im not sure what it is since the ipa is being heated up. "for I have sworn upon the altar of god eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." -Thomas Jefferson
