Blue Lotus Administration Options

Hey guys,

Just curious what the most common or most preferred method of admin is for Blue Lotus? I know a lot of folks smoke it, especially as a changa admixture (obviously), but what about on it's own? Do you prefer tea or smoking? With a tea, should the plant material be consumed as well, or discarded? I've also seen a powder out there, although I can't remember it was an extract or just powdered leaf.

Love to hear your preferences and/or reports.

Peace

You can smoke blue lotus, make a blue lotus tea or you can make the blue lotus wine. I have personally had the tea and i have smoked the blue lotus, smoking and the tea both only seem to give me mild affects of relaxation and calmness and a general all around peace and well being. (take note i am a hyper sensitive person with entheogens so i make a great guinea pig. :lolSmile Apparently the best option for the best effects is the Blue Lotus wine (The Egyptians used to make the wine) I'm not very keen on wine or on alcohol on a whole so i haven't gotten to trying this wine option yet.

To make the wine you will need:

1 bottle of red or white wine
10-30 grams of Blue Lotus petals and bulbs
Honey if you enjoy honey

Its pretty simple just add the bulbs and petals to your wine and add the honey if you want and then just re cork your wine. Put it in the fridge and leave it to ferment for as long as possible the longer the better, try 3 weeks if you can. The bottle can be shared between preferably 2 people depending on your weight and tolerance.

Idtravlr if you happen to try the blue lotus wine recipe please could you post your affects as i am very keen to find out the potency of this method. Enjoy Very happy

Much Peace

What a coincidence, just wrote about it here.
Anyway, as I see it there are five different methods of ingestion, whereas I've tried four;
1. Smoking/Vaporising
It requires a lot less than with the other methods, but according to personal trials, it's still a bit too much for ordinary smoking (the smoke is quite harsh). It is possible, without a doubt, to get effect from it, but it is a tough on the lungs. Vaporising seems like a good idea though, and changa sounds like a great idea!
2. Tea
Simply let some dried herbs sit in hot water for 5 minutes, like you normally make tea. This is a very weak method of ingestion, since not much seems to migrate into the tea. It taste mildly and is very enjoyable, especially with some milk. But I have to say, if you want noticeable effects and not just sleep-aid or a nice cup of herbal tea, this may not be the method for you.
3. Brew
No, this isn't the same as tea. Here you let anything from a couple to 20-ish grams sit in boiling water for a certain amount of time (tip: experimentate). After it's done you can either choose to filter out the empty herbal material or let it sit and simply avoid drinking it. The herbs are quite dried of taste (and probably alkaloids too). Something one should note though is that you often get a quite decent amount of brew, at least I for one prefer to make about a liter (of 15g) I then pour up into teapot from which I drink over an evening. The taste is very bitter though, but I enjoy it more than the tea. Really relaxing, recommends highly!
4. Chew
This would be something to try with non-dried material, since it isn't that much of a blast with the dried form. It does not taste nice, and after you've tried chewing a couple of grams you'll understand what I mean. This is mainly to get it active sublingually (which I haven't confirmed) but also to get all the material down there, so remember to swallow. Note that chewing and then swallowing is the most effective method (except smoking), but also the least pleasurable one (at least in my opinion).
5. Soaking in alcohol
This is an interesting one, mainly because I have not tried it. In theory it involves an amount (like the brew) of herbs that you let soak in wine or vodka (high alcoholcontent). The point is that the alkaloids should be much more soluble in ethanol than in water, thus increasing the bioavaibility from both the tea and the brew. After an hour or so, remove the herbs and enjoy a 'slightly' more bitter alcohol beverage.

Good luck, and remember to try them all to find your way!
There's a clear difference between what I say I do and what I actually do perform.

I like blue lotus, often put it together with shrooms =)
I usually put 2 spoons of blue lotus into a quater of liter, like 20,30 cl.
Then, I let simmer for 10 minutes, and let it stand for the night (I prepare to take it in the morning).

I find the smoked taste, in changa also, really bad. But the tea taste is really nice indeed =)
Bad, bad english

there is a lot of controversy about Blue Lotus' effects on the web. So many depressing people say it doesn't do anything... and splitting a bottle of wine between two people just sounds very inaccurate to feel the effects of lotus. What could the alcohol do really? dilate vessels? one will be drunk happy and relaxed from the wine of course.

I ordered an ounce of the Nymphaea Caeruelea (sp?) and made a 'brew' from half of it. Boiled for a little bit strained and repeated twice. drank the bitterness and even ate some of the material. Stomach felt weird, but it wasn't bad really. Relaxation/sedation euphoria? Couldn't tell if it was placebo or true effects but only mild.

Can anyone here say with confidence that blue lotus has its purported effects and they felt them? what exactly were the effects?

sorry for being negative, just disappointed it didn't do nething for me

I have used it lots in the past..blue and white lotus..a few times it made me sort of nauseated...one of my friends really likes it. There used to be a tea house here that served it and we would go there and drink it sometimes..but it only really worked when i brewed my own using lots of material, and than it was sort of exhausting, like I would get really sedated..never tried it in wine.

Long live the unwoke.

My experience with blue lotus.

Smoked mild effects sedation, slight euphoria more than placebo.

7 grms soaked in 750 ml of vodka (50%?) for 1 to 3 weeks 1 shot strained through tea strainer with 25% orange and mango juice and ice makes a great summer drink.

After the first drink you know there is something there more than the alcohol.
One or two more and you start feeling pissy but not a normal drunk feeling. There is a noticeable difference but very hard to describe.
My wife and I will have a few drinks and be quite inebriated and then a few hours later we are straight well straightish.

A friend who had been drinking all night tried one shot which took her to the point of I’m really pissed now. We told her to hang in there and sure enough she was back partying again an hour or so later. She told us normally if she felt like that she would have been finished and gone to bed. She like us said it was different but not like anything else she had tried.

The only thing I have consumed that has the same sort of effect would be the first times I hit Jagermeister hard the feeling of drunk but stoned. Not a straight alcohol drunkenness but with Jager there is no coming back once pissed you are pissed.

I don’t now how much this helps. All I can say I give it a go and have fun.

Cheers

last night swim rolled a joint with half blue lotus and half mullien (organic papers really help the taste). swims been on a fairly clean diet recently so sensitivity is slightly raised. the lotus tasted very good...smooth and a very unique sort of fruity flowery mildness. after about five minutes a calm opium like hypnotic dreamy warmth cuddled my head and body (lungs a bit clearer). finishing that joint swim rolled another of pure lotus. definitely hypnotic, aphrodisiac, opiate are all applicable. swim sees why the egyptians carved this flower into rocks. also a feeling of clarity or better said, lucidity in this waking dream was very nice. cuddles and smooth music are nice.. next morning felt a bit groggy lasting through the day. intense bright dreams although not remembered well. swim is making tea tonight and joints... will report back.

First off, I'd say lotus shows some of it's best potential when mixed with other substances.

My fave way to enjoy it is smoking, usually mixed with Cannabis, for the most relaxing joints ever.

It also goes great if you soak/infuse it into alcohol - I've made tinctures, infused it into gin, wine, or even used a strong tea + macerated the flowers into home-brewed meads or beers. Brings out this amazing warm, empathetic quality that alcohol normally doesn't have for me, though some of the subtle aspects of the lotus are lost in the alcohol buzz.

Tea is a nice way to enjoy it, more subtle than other methods but much longer lasting. It is a fun thing to drink before bed, I find it enhances the vividness of my dreams significantly.

Not many people know that you also can chew lotus - just take a little handful, more than you need for smoking but less than for making a tea, and slowly chew it up, hold the juices in your mouth and slowly swallow. It comes on fairly fast, similar onset and duration as smoking and a good option for those who don't like to smoke (or if you are gurning hard from MDMA, gives you something to chew on and takes the edge off nicely Smile ). It has some good medicinal activity this way too - friends have found it takes away pain from inflamed gums or rotten teeth until you get to the dentist.

I personally mix mine with almost equal parts damiana and make a tea I don't let it all sit in the boiling water I let the water simmer and slowly pour it over the teabag(SLOWLY) sometimes adding some citrus juice to aid extraction. Like 2 grams damiana and blue lotus at 2 grams as well usually makes a nice relaxing buzz with some aphrodisiac qualities to it. However I don't notice the aphrodisiac portion unless I actually make a move to get something going with my girl. In that case its mostly like a MDMA similar touch enhancement things (she confirmed she felt the same).
Understand: Nature knows no EVIL, Nature knows no GOOD, people know these things, because we perceive these things, with the gift of senses given to us at birth. A good or bad experience is simply a bridge to a another existential time frame, so always live in the moment and make every one a positive moment!

Any and all posts or interactions are to be held as my fictional writings/short stories or dreams. I may even have some delirium setting in, I've never been tested for it. The only exception to this is the statement about nature above, I feel this is a fact!
