California Aromatic solvent problem Options

Just seeing if there are any peoples out there in californialand who have the same problems as this dude i met on the bus.

It seems toluene, xylene, and benzene are banned here. Even Naphtha to an extent, no vm&p here just ronsonol or zippo.

Now I'm not trying to source but has any californian found an ample substitute for xylene or toluene for pulling jimjam from say a theoretical acacia extract where it has already been exhausted with naphtha?

The only solvents to be found are naphtha and n heptane which are extremely selective. They're great for pulling crystals but there has to be tons of stuff it's not picking up. Heated naphtha pulls a little bit of jimjam but not much.

Anyways would somebody just have to bite the bullet and get some d limo? it's rather pricey shipped and not local.

any experience helps.

oops, I didn't mean to post it on the wrong forum. sry peeps.

but anyone have any experience with this?

from what i've read benzene, toluene, and xylene and d limo seem to be the best to pull full spectrum from exhausted juice.

does anybody have experience or know of other strong solvents that aren't in the aromatic class or that are california legal and widely available? I think all aromatics are banned here.

I've read of people using chloroform, is that very selective or not?

I also know acetone and bleach can make chloroform but i assume it would be rather hard to make it pure enough for extraction purposes.

You can try to get some limonene and salt it out, like BLAB tek.

Interesting. I remember a couple of years ago seeing xylene in my county but i don't think it's around anymore it's a shame. what kinds of VOCs are the most common you think?

Make your own mesitylene by trimeric condensation of acetone, then react with aluminium chloride to rearrange the methyl groups, distilling out xylene, toluene and benzene. Acetone can be made from reacting chalk or limestone, and vinegar and dry distilling the resulting calcium acetate.

"In the laboratory, it [mesitylene] can be prepared by trimerization of propyne, also requiring an acid catalyst, affords a mixture of 1,3,5- and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzenes." (wikipedia) Propyne is also known as methyl acetylene, which is a component of MAPP gas, used in high temperature blowtorches (a time-saving device for plumbers?!)

There should be tons of limonene around in California. They do grow oranges there, right?

Steam distillation of orange peel is also fun, but you might need a large setup to make enough to be of much use.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

limonene or vegetable oil can and have been used successfully in dmt extractions.
