I was taking a nice walk along the town's lake.
This grass is everywhere, taller than me.

It's a bit hard to tell from that photo, but it appears to be Arundo donax. Your comment about height also suggests Arundo, Phalaris does not grow that tall.

Hmm..
Maybe just a large Phalaris arundinacea???? It matches the wiki picture below in some way (?) Razz

Here is a picture of it off wiki: http://commons.wikimedia...Phalaris_arundinacea.jpg

Hope you come right, we need more phalaris teks/extractions/experiences! Smile

I have this growing near me and it does not at all resemble cane, it could just be a large phalaris that's had much water and been left unattended? Look at the end of each plant has same grass head as a phalaris almost?

The other possibility is Phragmites australis.

I can say with certainty that grass is not Phalaris arundinacea.

edit: Yeah you are right about not being Arundo, it's Phragmites for sure.

I would have to say that is not Phalaris. My guess is phragmites but you'd need to post more pictures of the plant and rhizome for a better identification.
