I must say that I´ve found most of the pictures to be quite funny - The horse gas mask is no joke though... Remember that poisonous gas as a weapon was first used during the WWI, when most of the troops still rode horses. So it wouldn´t make much sense to protect the soldiers but let the horses die... - And the lying down glasses are no joke either. I´ve seen it a few times for real. I think it was on train somewhere in Europe, when people would recline their seat almost to a bed-like position and read a book like that. (Maybe they had some neck spine problems or something, I don´t know)
