I didn't see anyone else reporting on this.

A man in Portsmouth has been arrested for possession of DMT, 2c-b, and Diazepam.

This article has such wonderful gems in it, such as referring to 2c-b as a 'type of LSD' and a nice reminder that you should squeal on your drug-using neighbors.

Full Text:
Quote:
A MAN has pleaded guilty to drugs offences following a raid on a house in Portsmouth.

Leigh John Westmore, 39, of Belham Apartments in Montague Road, North End, was charged by police after officers executed a drugs warrant.

He was arrested on suspicion of the production of a class A drug and for possessing class A drugs.

Items were seized at the address for analysis as potential evidence.

Westmore was taken to Portsmouth Central police station where he was charged and remanded in custody before appearing at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on April 29.

He pleaded guilty and is due to be sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court later this month.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We would like to thank Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service for their assistance in the operation.’

Westmore was charged with four offences: production of class A drug dimethyltryptamine (DMT); possession of DMT; possession of 2CB, a type of LSD; and possession of a class C drug, in the form of 618 tablets of diazepam.

Anyone who is concerned about drug activity in their neighbourhood should call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

[Grave facepalm]

Thanks for posting this.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

How do you get charged with possession AND manufacturing? Why isn't it just possession? The dmt exists in the bark. Extraction merely separates the illegal chemical out of the other material, but the chemical already existed and is useable in the bark, and you end up with the same amount of the chemical in the end. There is no manufacturing of the drug, it already exists in the bark. Plus, the law says that it is illegal to possess any substance or mixture that contains dmt in ANY amount. Extracting the chemical doesn't increase the amount at all. It would seem that according to the law, it's just as illegal to possess something that contains 1% dmt as it to posses something that contains 99% dmt. So what's with charging the dude with possession and manufacturing?

I agree Apoc however if the accused has extracted the dmt by a/b or stb then technically they are manufacturing dmt freebase as the dmt is a salt when in the bark. Assuming they caught him with extraction stuff going on. It's still stupid though.

bad news, but that seems like quite a lot of diazepam to have.

I think he got busted because of the 618 tablets. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

Mmm diazepam are class C and dmt and 2c-b are class A so i think they police were more interested in the class A tbh

Apartment complexes are hives of activity. You have have many personality types all confined into a relatively small area, people are always coming and going, standing outside having a smoke, etc. Now that the weather is warming up I imagine that the tenants' windows are opening - making a rogue petrol odor all the more easy to detect.

For all these reasons I would never extract in an apartment complex.

I think its also fair to say that you will always have a neighbor (apartment or otherwise closely situated housing) who is more nosy then average, so if this guy were dealing his foot traffic would be hard to conceal.

This person likely was a dealer. I've known users to have big stashes of things. Maybe 200 dosages of this or that but it never lasts long. 600+ daizepam? Most likely slinging it. Not siding with the law but just saying if you're bringing negative attention to yourself it really puts you at risk.

Portsmouth is a pretty rough port town, known for it's poverty and dealing is a way of life there.
Not surprised by this.

It's too bad. No one should be incarcerated for possession of any drug, IMO.
But, honestly knowing that people get thrown behind bars for possession
of DMT is really infuriating. Hopefully, they are corrupt cops
and smoke some. Maybe they will quit their jobs and become
anti-drug war activists Smile

No, there is no DMT-fumarate in in the bark.

The sad thing is, it doesn't matter if you're booked with 'extracting,' 'manufacturing,' or whatever else the charge might be, they'll say you had a lab, similar to one you'd make meth in, and you're screwed.

Due to the presence of tannin in the bark, I would say DMT-tannate.
