Ok to use Naphtha w/ Sodium Carbonate? Options

I thought i might have read someonewhere that you cant (or shouldnt) use naptha as your solvent when using Sodium Carbonate as your base? Is this true?

I understand that naptha is a poor solvent and probobly outdated but its very easy to come by and this is SWIMS first xtraction and im only using 50g MHRB. Im not trying to set the world on fire over here with my yeilds or my purity, im just looking to break through for the first time.

So, is naphtha still usable with a sodium carbonate base?

Also ive heard that adding table salt will force more DMT into the solvent? Is that true as well?
"...if all the worlds a stage, then welcome to the show..." ... this forum is an improv... and im just playing my part.

I swear you've posted this thread at least 5 times. Haha.
Check the other threads you made asking the same question, I responded to two of them.
You don't need to make more than one thread.

If you are using an A/B extraction and not a STB extraction, sodium carbonate will be perfectly fine to use with naphta as your non-polar solvent.

Have you actually done it?

I think it's been told that if using sodium carbonate in an A/B you have to pull with dichloromethane.

Something about weak bases being less soluble in solvents and naptha being a weak solvent.

No, but my cat has and said it works fine since it's an A/B and not a STB.

Why would you assume it works fine just because it's an A/B?

He says to take a closer look at 69ron's post and you'll see that he is referring to a STB tek.

Yes, but why would you assume it works for A/B just because it doesn't work for STB?

If you look closer at 69ron's and other respected members posts' you'll see that they say NOT to. They say it only works if not using naphtha.
The author said "Ok to use Naphtha with Sodium Carbonate?" and the answer is no.

holy shit. did you not read that my cat got at least 3.5 grams of white crystals using this tek from 500 grams of mimosa? My cat isn't assuming anything cause he has done it.

Thanks for the criticism though tolu.

I'll take your word, I just found it strange as you originally said you had "poor yields", now it's 3.5 grams.
Or do you consider 0.7% to be a bad yield?
You're the only person from 4 (DMT) forums I frequent that has ever had a good yield with it. Grats Smile

I guess we shouldn't just take what marsofold, 69ron, noman and co say as fact.

I consider my cat's yield very good. Especially since all the 3.5 grams that he pulled to be white and in no need to be recrystallized. And I am not talking down to anyone. All I know is that my cat's extraction worked amazing. And why would I not consider .7% to be a good yield? That's an amazing yield.

I have no idea. That's exactly why I mentioned it.
You do realize I was quoting you don't you?

My cat NEVER said he had poor yields. You really need to read a little closer. that was 69ron's post.

I haven no idea which post of 69ron's you are referring to but I can assure you as I read it now the author is "s8championjgh" not 69ron. It's from the thread where you were first talking about the 500g extraction using sodium carbonate. You thought it might of been down to the heptane, but it was not.

Your seeing shit. Are you tripping right now?

Haha, no I'm not. Razz

My cat ended up getting 3.5 grams of spice. He didn't have a scale for a while to weigh how much spice he had. What else you got?

What do you mean?
You might of misunderstood me.
I was just saying that your yield report went from poor to amazing.
But now you've explained it was due to not being able to weigh it at the time and you were just underestimating, so it's all dandy.
I wonder why everyone else fails using sodium carbonate as the base?
