So this idea has been on my mind for a couple of weeks. The art by Nexus artists is just amazing and would make my trip cave even better if I were fortunate enough to have some grace my walls. This raises the age old dilema of having to essentially disclose identity to trade art. For me though, the identity disclosure has already happened to some degree. I could be/could have been ID'ed by: 1) Connecting to Guyomech's FTP to upload art files for the Nexus art gallery 2) Attending a Psychedelic conference and chatting with other Nexians. Trading some prints would be wonderful, but I thought I'd ask for some discussion since many heads are better than one and may see problems that I'm not considering. Thoughts? Discussion? You could post high resolution images that people can print out themselves at their local copyshop (unless you would want to trade real, tangible stuff like silkscreens and such).

dg wrote:i've been told no gifts or trades- legal or not- allowed here at Nex Excellent to know - that solves that. Thanks dg Does that also preclude me from giving away (via the Nexus) hi-res files of my art that can be printed by the receiver? r does that fall into the "gift" category as well? If a mod could chime in I'd surely appreciate it. ^ Trading hi-res files should be fine if it's done through the Nexus. I believe the main concern is exchanging real-world information like addresses and emails, for the safety of all. You might consider discussing this with The Traveler. That is, to create a special area for uploading/downloading files through the Nexus for selected members. That's not a bad idea a1pha...currently most art in the bin and elsewhere is downsized or jpeg'd to conserve space and upload times. If files were stored in the cloud ie. Drop box or mediafire, then links can be provided to download from there. Png's or Psd's can be exchanged this way and would keep the hi rez and not overload Travs' server. Not familiar with mediafire. Dropbox has a time limit for how long things stay posted- I think most of these services do. If this file exchange were just an occasional thing, using my FTP is always an option, but requires PMing me for login info. Would be nice to find a way where the info could just be posted in a sticky and artists can upload high rez stuff there. I guess we can ask Traveler if he has any ideas... Printable file database is a nice thought.

I love this idea. There are definitely some pieces in the Art Bin thread that I'd love to have a nice high res hard copy of (Pup and Mr P, I'm talking to you ). I'd be happy to put anything I posted to the thread into a repository if requested, but personally I'd probably prefer if they were there for a somewhat limited time, maybe a few months or so. Images of broken light, Which dance before me like a million eyes, They call me on and on...

I'm honored that you want some of my art, spin! Personally, I could do with a few blown up prints of some cyb, spinCycle, and Pup Tentacle work, among others. They would go well in my "baking" room. I'm game! Although, I also like the idea of limited time available. Be an adult only when necessary.
