This weekend I tried endlessness' cappi vine extraction - https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...lkaloid_Extraction_Guide

i used 65g of white vine, did all the boils and reduced to 400mg. let it cool to room temp and i mixed 5g of lye with 50g of water and then mixed it into the caapi brew. however nothing ever precipitated, i let it sit for about 30 mins with regular stirring and nothing.

could my vine be super weak? i would have thought that atleast SOMETHING would have precipitated out...

thoughts and/or suggestions?

You could try some more base and see what happens.

The amount of base needed should be higher when you added some kind of acid to the brew.

Oh and maybe, depending on your vines consistency, you may need do boil longer ? (As E's method says 30 minute boils, that may not be enough)

I'm working on the same project and found that it took 24 hours for the alkaloids to precipitate out. I thought that it was going to be a complete failure, but it is working out ok. Give it some time and see what happens.

Did you acidify? I didn't and I'm wondering if that would have changed things.

I threw the brew out so I'll try again in a few days...

I did add 25ml white vinegar to each of the three initial boils.

When you simply throw it all away, you make it harder for yourself to get to success..

I would have tried a little this and that and after all, wait.. Smile

My attempt at Gibran's Easy Extraction has failed miserably.

100 g of black shredded caapi were boiled 6x times in a pressure cooker for 1.5 hrs each time. During the first 3 cookings I used vinegar acidified osmosis-filtered water. Plain filtered water was used for the last 3 cookings. 1.5 liters of water were used each time. Combined cookings were reduced to ~400 ml, cooled and basified to pH~11 with lab grade NaOH. Nothing crashed out. More NaOH was added (pH~12), still nothing. After 16 hrs in a fridge there is no precipitation.

What I did somewhat differently is to vacuum-filter the reduced liquid before basification.

My only explanation at the moment is that the vine was bunk. Any ideas, suggestions?

if this was alicia anisopetala species (sometimes sold as black ayahuasca/caapi) it might be because it doesn't have harmala alkaloids (iirc).

I also got a batch of black caapi which i feel is devoid of alks.

that being said, my last batch of yellow ceilo caapi using gibran2 tek was absolutely amazing. over 6.5 grams from roughly 250g.

paulsage: my estimate is that with your initial basification with lye was not nearly enough. i know its too late, but next time, dont throw anything away as most teks are re-workable

use ph papers to test your progress. this is very helpful to get an idea of where a solution is in terms of ph.
