Hey guys I was going to try this cake method out but had a quick question. Are the fumes given off by methanol safe? I know they are very flammable but I'm talking about breathing in the fumes. Thanks alot.

thanks so much for taking the time to post this, Moonshine Smile

I've actually been working on a very similar ethanol method for acacia with good results. Though I hadn't thought of making a cake to store... great idea mate! Also, if living in a country where the weight of bark is simply considered dmt, this could be a safe route for people to take legally

I agree alcohol is very underrated in extraction.. its a lot more efficient than acidic water.. though heat seems to be just as effective. The good thing about not heating the material too much though, especially with mhrb is the preservation of other alkaloids that are destroyed at high temperatures, such as yuramamine.. this might mean that the cake may be orally active, especially if the ethanol were slowly evaporated, rather than via heat

This sounds like a great way to get full spectrum extract, as the solvent step is bypassed

Oh, and don't breathe in methanol fumes! see the referance below from wikipedia:

Quote:
"Methanol is toxic by two mechanisms. Firstly, methanol (whether it enters the body by ingestion, inhalation, or absorption through the skin) can be fatal due to its CNS depressant properties in the same manner as ethanol poisoning

Great write up...invaluable info...Mucho Thanks.
Have you considered the addition of Salt (NaCl) at the pre basification stage?
IME it increases speed and yield. 80% of product is drawn in 1st and 2nd pull.

Cake for everyone... Thumbs up

I believe that this is a copy and paste of Spiceman's Cake Method write up that was moved to a different (unavailable) section of the forum, probably due to safety concerns and the bulk nature of the tek itself.

I tried a variation of this tek (details in link) and came up with this crystal. - https://www.dmt-nexus.me...&m=223003#post223003

Not my preferred tek but it is effective.

The cake method is not supported on the DMT-Nexus due to the large scale of it.

Please check the Attitude page:

I hope you understand this policy.
