Acid/base extractions are commonplace in college level organic chem labs. The beauty of A/B extractions is that they can be used to isolate acidic organics i.e. carboxylic acids as well as basic organics i.e. amines. Most college level orgo lab books discuss how the A/B or liquid liquid extraction works in theory and practice.
