Rooting bridgesii Options

I have some bridgesii cuttings the I've been trying to root for the past two months. I have them standing in pots with shade cloth and a sheet of plastic over them, to create a miniature green house since it hasn't been reliably warm here. The soil has been kept totally dry, and they get sun for most of the day.

With in the past few weeks I've notice that they've started to grow vertically a bit, and put out a few new thorns at the top. They've also started to suck inwards at the base, but I still don't see any signs of them putting out roots. Another thing is that they've slowly started to become more and more soft. Right now they feel something like a ripe avocado.

I was wondering if for anyone who's had experience with this, if this might be a sign of trouble, or if this is the behavior I should be expecting?

You'll want to water them a little bit. I water fresh cuttings every 7-10 days.

They do deflate a bit when started. Then they'll swell back up from the top down once rooted.

Good luck...achuma are the best!!!Big grin

Mine all rooted after about three months. I just pulled em up and checked. Cactus are probably the easiest thing to grow. I have prickly pear, perskiopsis, san pedro, and peruvian torch I just put in some pots and they grown fine. I'm not sure I could kill some of them if I wanted too.
