I know this has been brought up before, but I thought it would be interesting to start a discussion on this. Has anyone ever experimented with dmt and listening to metal music? I have done this quite often with cannabis, and have always found metal to stimulate deep thought. Not every kind of metal of course. But any thoughts on this? The Unknown = A Place to Learn

I love metal, everything from technical death to the super cheesy power metal, but for me its usually too much going on to listen to while on any psychedelics.

In general, I find lyrics of any kind to be highly distracting while on any hallucinogen. Something with heavy guitar and no lyrics? Possibly... But I would think that anything overly aggressive would catalyze badly on something as strong as DMT.
I was a metalhead back in the eighties, so it's not like I can't relate. But I definitely find the psychedelic mindset more compatible with electronica, which has no limits to the instrumentation available and explores some very deep sonic places without some dude yelling at you.
But hey, that's just my taste.
On another note, I do listen to a wide variety of music, and love it all, but would only choose to trip with a narrow bandwidth of it.

mors principium est (latin for death is the beginning" is always sick (melo-death) also purest of pain is pretty sick as is obscura. also since you are interested in hermeticism/alchemy, borknagar and behemoth are worth checking out. if you are a fan of more mellow metal / jazz fusion / progressive metal, exivious is worth checking out. also also tool, but i think just about everyone here already knows that.. p.s. check the lyrics for both youtube lyrics. My wind instrument is the bong CHANGA IN THE BONGA! 樹

I dunno if you'd consider it metal, but back when I was still regularly listening to music on my journeys, I listened to Avenged Sevenfold a bit. I enjoyed it. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead
"Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids" - 9th century Arab proverb

Can't give an opinion on whether or not metal is a good idea whilst on dmt, however this band is my favorite metal to listen to after smoking cannabis, A dramatic shift approaches...

I like the album Metal by Pink Floyd! (if that counts!) never tried listening to it on dmt though! A very cool album I might add! That is I think the Live in Pompay (spelling) release. Done: THC - LSD - MESC - MDMA - Shrooms - DMT / Want:Hyperspace travel - World Peace Respect, intention, meditation, inhalation, observation, analyzation, respect.

Check out Animals As Leaders. Not exactly metal, but some of it is quite crunchy. No vocals. Crazy guitar stuff... Maybe on LSD? Havent tried that but I bet it would be interesting... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5lrwYPhHThc

I had my second experience with DMT last night and I listened to Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath, it's not exactly metal, but the band is, great song regardless!

All I want to say is that metal is NOT only BANG BANG with killer growls and riffs.
How about post-metal!?!?
Isis, Earth, God is an Astronaut, Tool?

Mastodon - Dry Bone ValleyWho needs to smoke DMT when there's metal videos as such. Couldn't imagine smoking to this video as it already does the trick by itself. I love this video!

Do you guys think that metal could help the learning process of dmt? I often find myself very deep in though emotionally and intellectually while listening to metal. Especially post-metal such as tool and god is an astronaut. That sort of stuff. So my guess is that combined with the already deep dmt trip, the metal would increase the intensity but also increase the potential for learning. Or engaging in deeper thought The Unknown = A Place to Learn

If you've never heard it, definitely check it out.

I second any mention of Tool... they have accompanied me on quite a few journeys in the Unknown Realms. 46-2 , Parabola, H. just to name a few powerful songs that have truly rocked my world and left me shaking like a leaf after the trip... it was like getting struck by a musical lightning bolt... surging and pulsating straight through me for 10 minutes. I really can't describe what I saw because the visions were so incredibly bright... but it was something very otherworldly about these extremely bright light entities! Very introspective thoughts coming and going in between moments of pure and ultimate bliss where my absolute core was full of warmth and constant vibration... wave after wave... 1% of reality is within our plane of existence. What we feel... what we see... what we hear... what we "think" we know... The other 99% percent of reality can only be shown to us through DMT. This 99% lies within the "Realm of the Unknowns". We can only experience FULL reality when we leave this vessel, our bodies. DMT gives us a taste of this full reality... the universal knowledge is given to us by the beings who call "hyperspace" their home. When in hyperspace there is no "self" but instead this self is replaced with pure and raw energy. ENERGY CAN NOT BE DESTROYED, ONLY TRANSFERRED OR TRANSFORMED! So when you have that "ego-death" during a breakthrough trip, don't fret, you are not being destroyed but yet..... YOU ARE BEING TRANSFORMED.
I LOVE YOU, RESPECT YOU AND I THANK YOU... Dimethyltryptamine ... for showing me the 99% of reality that I would never have experienced in everyday life.
