Serotonin and DMT have very similar structures, was wondering how an SSRI would affect the experience. Is it just a bad idea?. Know not to combine SSRI with MAOI. Propagate them positive vibes
Be ridiculous: its the only way to make sense of things

SSRI's tend to weaken and/or largely dull the effects of tryptamines in general, so and SSRI with DMT would probably mean that you'd feel less effects with the same amounts. However, trying to take more to counter the weakening effects is a generally bad idea since taking SSRI's with excess tryptamines could case Seretonin Syndrome (which is potentially fatal) so it is advised that one ween off and stop taking SSRI's at least two weeks before trying a tryptamine for full effects.
I recall that in the past, someone asked a similar question about one of their dying relatives wanting to try DMT but was on Paxil and many of the members suggested against giving the relative DMT for similar reasons. I hope that helped.

Hey,
I was gonna post something similar, but researched it elsewhere and it seems to be fine. People have done it and the worst that happened was a very light trip.
I wouldn't worry too much about the serotonin syndrome, especially since dmt is such a short acting agent. On ssri forums you'll find members who are on 2-3 ssri.s, sometimes heroic doses.

I'm not gonna argue that I think it's not the best idea to take SSRIs with DMT, but I think claiming the combo will cause serotonin syndrome is unfounded. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein

I have a friend on SSRI's and she still takes shrooms and has tried aya. She notes no issues what-so-ever. I'd start small and slowly work my way up. Peace If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

Peace As the OP mentioned, combining maoi and ssri is a very bad idea and the number 1 warning for those on ssri. Don't take ayahuasca.
