I have recently preformed a simple H20 and ethanol extraction of white sage and they both produced some awesome results. I have heard that there is a high content of thujone in white sage but i haven't been able to find any information to back it up. When I smoke the resin my body feels heavy but also very relaxed and I have a pleasant mood about me. The feeling goes away in about 25 minutes.
Has anyone ells had any experience with this plant? Or have any information on the alkaloid makeup of white sage?

Much appreciated.

I worked with white sage in a Navajo blessing ceremony last summer. The smoking mixture we were using was heavy with white sage, which combined with the other herbs of the mountain smoke, imparted a nice clean flavor and a clear headed psycho-activity.

The pipe was filled with the mixture and lit with a dried out corn cob which had been heated red hot in the coals of the fire. The medicine man proceeded to get it to a rolling burn blowing the smoke on the objects to be blessed and saying prayers to be carried up on the smoke. The pipe was then in turn passed around between all the participants who said their own prayers and blessings always blowing the smoke over the objects.

When the bowl was finished the medicine man emptied it out into his hand and dropped the ashes into a cup of water eating any leftovers from his palm. The water was then blessed and drank by the medicine man and passed around the circle with each participant taking a drink of the ashy water. Shortly thereafter another bowl would be loaded in the pipe and the process would begin all over again.

I don't know much moar about it other than thujone is supposed to the main active and it has many traditional uses as food, cleanser, and medicine.

im interested, i have a huge amount of white sage i got as a freebie that i never knew what to do with. Does a simple water boil extract thujone, or is there a certain preparation needed? Any info on preperation and dosages would be great.

That's very interesting dreamer! I did not know it was used outside of pagan/wiccan spirituality. I would love to have participated in that ceremony.
Evil804 - All i did was boil some water then let the ground up white sage sit in the water for a few days (shaking periodicity). I then strained out the plant material with a sock and evaporated the water off in a water bath. (A pot on low heat with water in it, and the container with the extraction was placed in the water)... This is by no means a clean extraction. You are getting much more than thujone in this, but i doubt it would harm you any more then the plant itself.

I am understanding that concentrated white sage is what they use in that KRONIC herbal smoke?
