Second A/B Extraction Options

I am pretty new to the world of extractions, but my first one went pretty good. I am now on my second extraction. I started with 150g of mimosa hostilis root/bark, vinegar, distilled water, sodium hydroxide, and VM&P naptha. I have a feeling that this one will go better than last.
I started by putting the 150g of MHRB in a saucepan. I did two 90 minute acid washes, and the last one lasted 4 hours.

After each acid was i would let it cool for a bit and then pour off the top into a ceramic dish, then i would let that decant and filter it through a t-shirt. After the t-shirt filter i decant for an hour while the other acid was is going and then i filter through a fine, cone shaped coffee filter. I repeat this on the final extraction and then i wash the mimosa out one more time with distilled water to get the rest of the DMT acetate out of the MHRB.

After this Is clean out the saucepan. I mix all of the liquid with DMT acetate into it again and then boil all of the liquid down to about 300 ml. Then i basify to a PH of 14. Then i do the pulls with VM&P naptha. I used about 20-30 ml for each pull, i did 3 pulls.

The last pull formed an emulsion, but i was out of lye so i couldn't separate all of it. But i freeze precipitated all of the naptha i could get from it and this is the final product. It looked pure white while precipitating, but not as yellow as my last product. (last product top, this product bottom)

I still have not yet weighed it due to my scale being in the mail right now, but i am not going to try it until i get that scale so i can see how much i got out of it. I did get more out of it than my last extraction of 100g of MHRB. I have grown an interest in doing the extractions almost more than dosing. Thank you everyone who has helped me during this process. Very happy

I'm not sure why it keeps coming out yellow. Is it maybe because i do the pulls when the MHRB liquid is still pretty hot, making it pull plant carbohydrates as well as the DMT salt

My yield was only .691g, I'm not sure what exactly happened, but now that i have a scale, maybe it will be a better yield next time.

perhaps try adding some salt to help the emulsion break (makes the water more polar), or add more lye, that works too.

Also, consider doing longer pulls in a hot water bath, stirring/emulsifying often. Even if you get semi dirty spice, you can clean it up w/ another freeze precip. I find yields are a bit better with longer heated pulls using naptha/heptane.

The final thing i could recommend is to do a few days acidic water soak (fumaric, vinegar, etc) before cooking your bark. I really don't even cook my bark, just heat it up in a narrow container with distilled water and vinegar in the microwave until almost boiling. Let it sit, shake often, and pour off the already decanted and filtered liquid 2 days later, leaving the bark for another cook/soak. It takes about a week, but its easy as pie, almost no filtering, and i've gotten excellent yeilds using this method, 2%+ on some extractions. Pulling full spectrum with limo though.

Still pretty decent results for a 2nd extraction, and that spice looks very nice Razz.

Good luck-

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry
