i've always known it as ch Anga like with an ay/A sound. another friend calls it chunngaa... not that this is a pressing issue of any kind, i'm just unsure how its actually meant to be pronounced

This thread is cracking me up. I've been pronouncing it CHANG-gah, (rhyming with 'clang' but will henceforth pronounce it with the "Ah" sound. (Without resorting to excesses or exaggerations which might make it sound British in my American mouth)
