I work with building houses and stuff, on top of that i workout 4-6times per week, mostly bjj but also some weight lifting.
This schedule can be pretty rough sometimes which means that if i don´t get at least 8hours of sleep per night then i´m going down hard sooner or later.
I eat around 3-3500 kalories per day mostly clean good food but also some meh carbs like pasta and rice, alot of veggies and a multivitamin for insurance.
I´m wondering if anyone have any good tips on to make my sleep count more? ive tried supplementing gaba, melatonin, zma etc but haven´t noticed much difference, although i never tried them for longer periods.
Ive heard about some grounding device which sends out some signals to ground you and make youre rem sleep better but those things cost alot so i don´t wan´t to spend anything if i´m not sure it works.
Have anyone here got any secrets on how to get more rest from less sleep?

if you have a week or two to take off, you can literally program your brain to go into REM within minutes of falling asleep. The trouble is, it destroys you while your trying to do it. I think it is something like two straight weeks of this procedure at night: Sleep 15 minutes, stay awake for an hour Sleep 15 minutes, stay awake for an hour. It completely rewires your sleep cycle. http://www.cracked.com/a...-brain-into-awesomeness/Im not sure if this will actually help at all, but it is pretty interesting. Have you tried herbals like valerian, chamomile, kava, or hops? Let the plants guide you, for they teach lessons beyond what we humans can offer. Distorted is our perception of reality, because reality is much more distorted than we could ever perceive it to be.

Not sure what you want to take away from this, but here's what i've experienced I noticed that if i meditate and do some yoga for like an hour instead of just going straight to bed i feel even more rested in the morning and its easier to get up and going. Many people who work with ayahuasca regularly also notice they don't need as much sleep as before to feel fully rested in the morning I don't need nearly as much sleep nowadays as i used to and i think the biggest contributing factor to that is my diet and harmalas. I mostly eat raw fruits, but a lot of veggies, nuts and things of that sort to. Others i know who eat like this also say they don't need as much sleep as before. Our food is our fuel and what builds our bodies, so to me its no surprise all these college kids around here have such low energy when they eat pizza and fast food all the time. I think things just started to run smoother, in many respects. I also take melatonin along with lower doses of rue or caapi every night.. i definitely notice i sleep much better with the harmalas, and i need less hours
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

I did home renovations for a while when I was in my early 20's a few years back..that is not easy work and would drain the life out of me by the end of the day..too much caffine in the morning so I could wake up and deal with it and then I would burn out later on. I ate horrible food back then as well though. Eat lots of good natural carbs like organic fruit and get lots of greens etc to keep you energized throughout the day..refined carbs and white sugar just contribute to burning out later on I think. At night eat fats..this is important..avacado, nuts etc..fats will stimulate your melatonin cycle while heavy refined carbs and even too much sweet fruit late at night can delay it and keep you more alert. You shoudl have ALOT of carbs throughout the day though! just make sure they are good carbs like whole fruits and not chips, pop and crappy grains. No other secrets really here on how to get more rest from less sleep. When I was involved on construction, of any kind I needed to go to bed at like 8pm every night in order to get a somewhat decent rest..all the cannabis did not help though. I guess you can take melatonin, but dont take it too late at night or you might wake up tired still. Drinking coffee throughout the day is something I would avoid. Keep it limted to a cup in the morning and maybe a cup at lunch if you need it..and then try to just drink herbal teas in the afternoon. At least for me caffine like green tea in the AM is great but if I have it all day long I end up wired and then feel burnt out later on and eventaully that takes a toll on me. Long live the unwoke.

I have worked construction for 12 years, and my hobbies are all outdoor physical activities. I find 6-7 hours sleep to be perfect. Any more or less seems to drain energy.

Maybe buy or build an isolation tank. I built my own but had to take down due to leak which could have been prevented. An hour floating in 93.5 degree epsom salt saturated water in pitch dark at near 100% humidity and your body and mind feel like you just got 8 hours of sleep. Perhaps you have a float center near you. This is a good way to see if its something that works for you. A float tank would be awesome but for obvious reasons it´s not a possibility, although maybe i could modify my bathtub somehow to make floating possible Most diet tips i probably know but have been bad to integrate them in my daily life, although i´m working on it and for some reason i´m more motivated in eating and living well than ive been in years. I´m cutting down coffee hard starting tomorow, i will be drinking tea at work instead of coffee but will keep my morning cup since it´s somewhat sacred to me, although i will keep it down to 1per day instead of the 3 i´m having now. I really wish i was drinking more aya for sure, my last real dose was almost a year ago which scared me alot, guess i had been abusing psychs abit during that time and was getting a real asskicking from that brew. after that ive done a few half assed attempts and drank some caapi/rue only brews but nothing that actually gave my a trip. maybe now if i can get my diet in order i can fel that i´m worthy of the magic of aya again.

One thing ive noticed when i drop acid is that even if i only sleep a few hours i will be fine afterwards, usually when ive dropped lately i need to get up early anyway so maybe i fall asleep around 5-6am and get up around 9am.
Obviously this catches up to me during the day but it´s still interesting how well rested i can feel after doing ejzid.
