SWIM took 200g of MHRB water and HCL boiled for 4 hours reducing it to 1.5L then filtered while hot. Once filtration was done added Naphtha and let it sit over night, removed Naphtha and then added Lye (about 200g, maybe more SWIM says). Tried a pull with Naphtha deep froze it, nothing, evaporated it and was left with a clear oil on the bottom - did this twice with the same results. Any thoughts? The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.

Did you only do one boil? It's usually wise to do a few with fresh water and acid, combining them and then reducing it all to reasonable amount. How much naphtha was added? and you never mentioned agitating/swirling the mixture after adding the naphtha. Sometimes if you add too much naphtha, the solvent isn't saturated enough, so crystals aren't able to crash out even at really cold temperatures. If that was the problem, then you would have to evap the naphtha down by half and throw it back in the freezer.

Swim did swirl it, and I am pretty sure SWIM only reduced it once. The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.

How much water ? How much HCl ? Ph level ? How much naphtha ? Ph level after the lye addition ? Color of the mixture ? Picture of the clear oil ? Did you discard the MHRB/water/HCl mixture ? Got GVG ? Mhm. Got DMT ? Pandora wrote:Nexus enjoys cutting edge and ongoing superior programming skills of the owner of this site (The Traveler), including recent switching to the .me domain name. I don't think SWIM took accurate notes. So is it possible that the spice was destroyed by to much acidity, or with the lye to much base? Is such a mistake salvageable? The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.

FiorSirtheoir wrote:So is it possible that the spice was destroyed by to much acidity Well, I remember 69ron talking about a bad yield when he used a highly concentrated solution of HCl but I'm not sure if that makes it a fact. FiorSirtheoir wrote:or with the lye to much base? Nah brah. People have used moar and survived. FiorSirtheoir wrote:Is such a mistake salvageable? Do you still have the mimosa/lye/water solution ? Why did you add naphtha to the filtered liquid, before adding the lye ? Defat ? Do you have a MSDS for you naphtha ? Product name ? Does it evap clearly ? Got GVG ? Mhm. Got DMT ? If it's an A/B and it's basic enough, you should be able to shake the hell out of it. Make sure everything is nice and warm, shake it up and let it settle. Do that at least 4-5 times so all of the spice merges into the naptha. I've found just swirling it doesn't do as good. If any emulsions form, just suck them up and squirt them back into the basic part of the mixture slowly. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

What is MSDS? SWIM has done this before with not this much problem. Naphtha on the acid solution was for de-fat, the naphtha pulled from the acid solution had a slight yellow color to it. Yes SWIM still has the MHRB/Water/Lye Solution. I will tell SWIM to try shaking it, if emulsions for SWIM can always give it a hot water bath to help break it up. Oh and yes I check SWIM's naphtha, it is good, believe it is Sherwin Williams Brand. Isn't it suppose to be 50ml of naphtha per 100g of MHRB? The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.
