I just stumbled upon an ounce of this stuff and immediately checked Erowid
for information. However, the majority of reports are with either liquid
Kava or in capsule form and do not display the weight of the substance directly.
Hopefully some of you can help me with this:

What is the dosage range?

I actually found a couple people who listed the weight of the Kava, but one
person administered .720g while another person administered 3.4g.
These seem like big differences to me. Does anyone have any background
with this?

Hey bassmethod,

For 'standard' kava kava root powder I mostly take about two full tablespoons for a good dose. I put that in milk, shake it a lot and then drink it in one quick gulp. The one quick gulp is the normal way to take it as I understood, this since the taste it not that nice.

Kind regards,

If youre interested,i have an archive for Kava Kava, its in Winrar.

It has all the proper preparation methods and also the best shops that have the most potent kava kava around.

Heres the link

By the way,i would stay away from extracts, they have been proven to cause liver damage.I myself had liver damage after using a kava kava extract.
It was quite painful and it lasted for over 6 months.I still feel it every now and then.

Good Luck.

Thank you both for your responses. I've just reviewed a paper publishing
liver damage results. However, it didn't specify extracts.

Quote:
Interestingly, kavain also adversely affected certain cells which function in the destruction of foreign antigens (such as bacteria and viruses), which make up part of the body's immune system.

I think the porblem came from using all part of the plant when using extract rather than just the root.
Now most if not all porducer should know about that and it looks like kava extract from root are no longer a danger.
