In accordance with Q21Q21's dry tek, I've been using Hoffman's hydrated lime for the past year or so with much success. Unfortunately I've run out and am having a very hard time finding more at any local retail locations. I was wondering if this product would be an appropriate substitute. Yes! Reef-aquaria products are actually thought to be much more pure then 'food-safe' products. this one is the best IMO, because Seachem has really excellent quality control and analyzes every batch. http://www.google.com/pr...RBQ&ved=0CDQQ8wIwAg
Heavy metal contamination etc. is really bad for reef aquaria because even if contaminants are present in very small quantities they will accumulate in the aquarium over time. The animals we keep are are also very sensitive. You should be able to find these products at any good aquarium shop.

I've heard only good things about kalkwasser and pickling lime. Just be careful of garden lime, though that is all I use I've seen like 5-6 threads of people who's teks failed due to non-calcium-hyrdoxide "Garden lime" I found this site (lime's in "cooking" for cheap lime but I haven't ordered from there, maybe look for some reviews but it's a good deal Good luck Q21Q21's Tek: A comprehensive guide to extracting DMTThe 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs
