To be hounest, I'm a bit double sided about this.

A chat function is nice but besides extra work it also has a tendency to draw attention away from interesting topics: much is talked about in the chat but once it is over the interesting parts of the chat aren't posted in the forum, so other people can't lookup this vary valuable information. I don't really like that.

How do others think about this?

I wouldn't like a chat for doing discussions. Especially dmt-related discussions, since as Traveler said, useful points would be lost and not stored in the server.

So, a chat where general discussions would take place would seem more appropriate, but still, the nexus is full of interesting discussions already.

I find no particular advantage to a chatroom other the fact that it is "live".

What about a live chat that is only active for 1 night every week, that way we can have regular sessions every say, Saturday 10pm-6 am, where we can run experiments, socialize, and such, would be cool to have an 'after-party' i'm sure we all have sat nights we are too wired to sleep.

We'd lose some info, but only 8 hours worth of postings, might be a fair trade-off for the knowledge that could come out of the live, and anything really interesting could be transposed or reposted.

I just want to know when Apple is going to come up with a peripheral that we plug into our brain-stem and download tryptamine-like variations of trips in software format? Then a live chat would be really cool, we could program and develop and trade different consciousness-altering trips over the wires. Dammit i bet our grandkids will have that technology, lucky bastards.

great idea.. but i think opening times are good. maybe saturday evening 8pm to sunday evening 11:30pm or so.

nice tool.. a friend from another planet has been doing all his secretive talks with friends from other places of the world with this software. its awesome, easy to use, doesn't have any sort of stupid designer-interface. its just plain software and it does what its meant to do without any soft of unneeded crap.

I'm quite content with The Nexus forum.... I vote no, chat seems like it will take away, not add, to our great forum.

As an alternative: We can always make a group/room (thingy) on one of the IM chats, post the group/room here and meet up there at a certain time.

I'm really not up to date on computer security (but probably should be). I imagine that there are secure chats that could be used. I would be willing to participate in a chat discussion off the nexus. I don't know about us being a "secret" cult, as we are easily found and anyone can read our posts (not sure I really like that but such is) but we sure are a special underground society.

msn messenger conversations using simp lite is very secure, easy to install and light.. and basically everyone has msn I guess, would be just downloading and installing simp lite

though I indeed dont know if it would take nice discussions away from this forum

i dont think it would take away from the forum there would just have to be a few rules, but simple questions or just talking bout random stuff probably wouldnt hurt. things like that dont really need to be posted and just kinda take up space here. teks, experiences and other more in depth matters could be handled in the forum but people would have to browse through an overwelming amount of posts to get a easy to answer to questions that have already been posted, thats just my opinion. also a moderator could post these chats if it contained a lot of useful info, containing it in 1 group instead of pages and pages of threads
