. . So how's this for placebo. On the suggestion of our ambassador to hyperspace, Antrocles, I acquired some kava in order to take advantage of some of its maoi qualities to enhance spice exploration. I tried it several times and felt nothing. Nothing, mind you. Then yesterday I was looking up some facts about it for a friend and see that there is a reverse tolerance associated with it. Well, for the first time today I am feeling the full-on effects and am actually having some difficulty typing this. Wow. Let me be clear. I purchased this over a year ago and when it did nothing it simply sat, and sat. Today I drank 3 tblspns in water with sugar on an empty stomach and had two pieces of cheese toast. I am almost overwhelmed with the feeling. This reverse tolerance is simply bizarre and I wonder if others have had similar experience. To all I say, "woohoo", Espiridiion . . kava is sooooo nice, I like drinking unfiltered powder mixed with almond milk and consuming the whole drink, powder and all. I don't really need more than 7-14 grams depending on the kava. My friend however recommends making big batches out of quarter pounds and filtering, claiming to get SMASHED off of it. Might try soon When Injustice Becomes Law, Rebellion Becomes Duty

Good kava is no joke. It can really get a person intoxicated. Much better than alcohol imho. I usually just mix the powder...but strained with milk is fantastic. Never had any issues with tolerance, but have noticed a reversed tolerance when used somewhat regularly. YES! I use kava in my daily life the same as I use maryjane, or food.. Kava to me is like a good friend that will always warm me up inside. I could go on all day about kava so i will cut myself short. But it is important with kava to get some soy lecithin, or mix it with 2% or whole milk because the fat allows more kavalactones to become active. My kava drink that i always use is 2 to 6 tbsp of kava powder, mixed in a blender for 10 minutes with whole milk and a spoonful of cocoa mix for taste, then I dont strain it and tip it back. Remember that Kava Kava is a drink not meant to be enjoyed, but rather drank in 2 or 3 gulps, thats how its done traditionally. You drink it with friends, and relax. Talk for hours and watch the waves come in off the ocean, but any old porch or rock in the woods is a good place to sit and enjoy kava with your friends. Good luck and i hope way more people will try kava a few times or more to get the effects, it def takes more than one try.. Everything I say is fictional, I do not support illegal drug use of any kind, SWIM is a fictional character.

Just a warning for others. I have had a repeatable, and very serious, allergic reaction to Kava Kava. I was using very good root from Kona farms. The day after using it I got a skin rash the persisted for TWO weeks. My entire body itched and absolutly nothing would stop it. Antihistamines helped a tiny amount. I literally slept in seated meditation position during this time. Being the inquisitive person I am I just had to know if it was really the kava...after all I LOVED the effects of Kava. So I tried it again.... BAD IDEA. I had the exact same response only it lasted about a week. I have also tried kava tea and it makes my face break out for a couple of days. For sure the rash was dose related. When this first happened I couldn't find any others on the net reporting it. it is very likely that none of you will have this reaction, but if you do, don't question it...take some antihistamines immediately. There are people very allergiv to Kava...and it sucks... If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

Just to clarify i´m not expecting to get high or fucked up of it just chilled enough to not think about doing weed, Kava works great for this. Its a little different from cannabis, i find it more like a benzo with some euphoria, also anxiolytic. It works very well for "withdrawals" from the herb ime. It also has the potential for an alcohol replacement, as it works on the same gaba receptor as alcohol. Interestingly enough it also has maoi properties. Overall a very nice, gentle tranquil drug that will not make you sleepy unless you drink alot. Taken with a little herb is also very nice as well, or if you are having a cannabis induced panic attack, paranoia, racing heart, etc. Lots of use in humans in polynesia, tonga, vanatu, etc. Its very safe unless taken in great excess. there was an issue years ago about some supplier using something other than the root from the plant, which caused liver issues. However, there are many trustworthy domestic vendors of kava with quality root. I think this plant has potential for trip abortion as well, but caution must be taken, as there are many unknowns with the pharmacological affects of the kavalactones. In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy. In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers... The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry

I'd be very careful with either of those combos, definitely start low if you do want to pursue it. Here's some info on the pharmacology of kava from wiki- Effects of kavalactones include mild sedation, a slight numbing of the gums and mouth, and vivid dreams. Kava has been reported to improve cognitive performance and promote a cheerful mood.[9] Kava has similar effects to benzodiazepine medications, including muscle relaxant, anaesthetic, anticonvulsive and anxiolytic effects. They are thought to result from direct interactions of kavalactones with voltage-gated ion channels.[10] Research currently suggests that kavalactones potentiate GABAA activity but do not alter levels of dopamine and serotonin in the CNS.[11] Heavy, long-term kava use does not cause any reduction of ability in saccade and cognitive tests but is associated with elevated liver enzymes.[12] Desmethoxyyangonin, one of the six major kavalactones, is a reversible MAO-B inhibitor (Ki 280 nM)[13] and is able to increase dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens. This finding might correspond to the slightly euphoric action of kava.[14] Kavain, in both enantiomeric forms, inhibits the reuptake of noradrenalin at the transporter (NAT), but not of serotonin (SERT).[15] An elevated extracellular noradrenalin level in the brain may account for the reported enhancement of attention and focus. But then again, it says that kava does not alter levels of dopamine/serotonin, so who knows. "let those who have talked to the elves, find each other and band together" -TMK

Cocoa nibs are a great addition to kava! Really helps with the taste to. Relaxing, but the theobromine creates a relaxed but awake feeling. Maybe sassafras, but I haven't tried it yet so I am not sure. Let the plants guide you, for they teach lessons beyond what we humans can offer. Distorted is our perception of reality, because reality is much more distorted than we could ever perceive it to be.
