Anyone here familiar with the movement? It centers around music made with old video-game hardware.

There have been some recent developments in the movement, lately, and some forthcoming shortly:

USB Cartridge Reader/Writer (as the old Chinese parallel port transferrers and their cartridges were pretty unreliable)
BleepBloop Carts
USB Carts
Nonfinite Electronics (a site dedicated to customizing game boys specifically to aid in music-making)

The scene's taken the hardware into its own hands and made it to better serve its needs, and they've done this primarily as an online community. This is the cream of the DIY crop and quite an example to other DIY communities.
