What is a safe and eco-friendly way to dispose of the soup when SWIM is done wit it. SWIM thought he could add an acid to it to neturalize it and dump the liquid in a drain that is not connected to a spetic tank and then throw away the left over plant material. Is this okay? is there a better way to do this? "This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness." ~Dalai Lama

The high pH of the soup should not be an issue considering the use of drain cleaners and such. I have always wondered if water treatments plants could notice a change in influent color, though it's extremely unlikely. This dye is extremely potent. Drain is just fine as long as minimal NPS is included in the dump.

Unless they have heavy metals or aromatic solvents, highly acid/basic solutions are very commonly poured down the drain with copious amounts of water. The text above was typed by frenzy monkeys randomly hitting their keyboards.

So as I've been doing research over the past few weeks, I've come across an interesting question: If I decide to use an extraction tek that uses lye, what should I do with the lye and bark solution after I've depleted it of the DMT? Do I just pour it down the drain? Should I neutralize it with an acid before disposal? I know that lye is common in drain cleaners so down the drain kind of makes sense, but I'm not entirely sure how everyone who's done extractions before disposes of it. A dramatic shift approaches...

I guess it's down the drain or toilet with extra water for dilution it is then, as that's the most common answer, thanks for the link. A dramatic shift approaches...

I have been thinking about having a garden for a while now, the trouble is convincing my parents to let me tear up some of the lawn to make room for it (we have a 1/3 acre so there's plenty of room), but to have a few rows of lettuce, arugula, peppers, squash, beans, different spices like basil, oregano, cilantro, maybe some corn, definitely some fruiting trees... that might need to wait for my own place unfortunately. A dramatic shift approaches...

Compost. Since my material with have d-limo which kills bugs , and since my compost has good bugs, I have a procedure. I take my used bark, mix it well with some old leaves, saw dust or something like that, and then add it to my long-term compost pile. Now that you get me thinking about it, it would be a good idea to leave the used bark in the sun to evaporate first. I appreciate your perspective.
