many ppl dont know about the ancient Mound peoples earthen pyramids here in North America are also ancient , perhaps even pre-dating the meso-american cultures. Poverty point , LA has a mound that has wooden support beams in it that date to approx 3400-4000 BC. I believe that pre-dates all know Pyramids here in the west.
So there was a vast Mound pyramid building culture right in middle America that may have influenced all of the later precolumbian cultures south of them.
To me that is amazing as well that it is not better documented and again, most peoples don't have any idea that the USA also has an ancient pyramid culture!~!
