SWIM had a very successful first extraction with nice white crystals using Noman's tek. His second attempt at extracting, however, had different results. He did everything the same as he did during his first extraction and instead of pulling clear naptha from his solution it was foggy yellow. He found that many people ran into the same problem but is unsure why this happened. His crystals are in the process of drying out now. There are some nice white crystals in his extract but the bottom of his jar has yellow/brown coloration.
If anybody has had this problem, please share some insight. Also, I'd like to know of any possible explanation for this difference. The only variable he can think of is that he had saved the naptha from his first extraction and put it back into the original naptha tank. Could this have had a negative effect on his naptha/entire extraction?

honestly, yellow is BETTER, in my opinion anyway..so there is some oxide in there..big deal..it is active and its really nice..and you get a larger yield..Id rather pull more spice with some oxide than just the white xtals..some wont agree with me though..as long as it really is all the oxides and not some solvent contam making the spice yellow its all good to me. Long live the unwoke.

This makes me feel a bit better. I'd be happy to have pulled oxide. It just sounds to me like it's not certain whether naptha can pull oxides or not.

i agree. i seperate the two using warm heptane tho. pull off all nn-dmt untill i am left with an organge oil then add just enough dry nndmt into it to cause it to harden upon cooling and drying. this spice is much different and just as awesome. if you put it all in a big hot water bath for a while you will pull orange naphtha.

From my experience, the temperature of the naptha/mimosa soup has a direct effect on how many actives get pulled. The hotter the soup, the darker the color. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

warm temp also pushes some inactive over. often you get micro bubbles of base spread thru it. there is a totally insoluble brownish substance collected with boiling naphtha. it dissolves into naphtha if held hot for a very long time(4hrs) ive never gotten it to redissolve into naphtha/heptane/acetone/water. maybe its cellulose or something? i dunno. i dont pull it anymore. i dotn use any heated steps anymore except heptane for rex which isnt always needed. it was always recovered after removing all nndmt, then oxides/amber oils. my bet is super super small bits of bark that is invisible and does not settle. only had this tho with boiling naphtha for over an hr in a water bath.
