Hey everybody,

I would deeply appreciate anyone who knows what this statue is called, or the area it is in, in sri lanka.

I think she is absoloutely beautiful, and the style resonates deeply with experiences SWIM has had on DMT. Don't you recognise that kind of shape too? itsn't it cosmic?? hehe. It also reminds me alot of my girlfriend.

I intend to buy a replica to add to the feng shui. I've scouted out a few unique and beautiful bhudda's too. Take a look at this one!

Looks like Kwan Yin or quan yin , but appears Chinese, the instrument she is holding is a traditional Chinese bammboo / multi tone flute (cant think of the name) an old style instrument you dont see being played much anymore.

this sculpture may be in Sri Lanka, but sure looks like a Chinese Buddhist art style

lol.....

It just so happens that once upon a time, I lived in Sri Lanka. Yes, seriously. I was a US Marine stationed there in the 80s. I worked at the Embassy in Colombo as a security guard for the embassy and US Diplomats working there.

I believe I have seen that statue before. It is located in the city of Kandy and it is located outside of or in the vicinity of the Temple of the Tooth. The Temple of the Tooth is believed to contain an actual tooth of The Budda. It is one of the very most holy shrines to all Buddists. The tooth is taken out once a year and it is paraded around the island on elephant back. This procession takes a few days and then it is returned and displayed for the public during a huge celebration. I have been to this celebration, what an amazing event.

I lived there for almost two years. Thanks shoe, for bringing back some wonderful memories.

It has been a long time, I have a pretty good memory about these sort of things, however I'm not 100% sure.

Thankyou everyone, for the informative replies. I hadn't expected anyone to know what planet I was on.
The Shaman: Guan Yin certainly seems like an interesting character, I was just reading a little on wiki. Especially as the male form, alokitesvara bhudda. I will also look more into chinese bhuddist art. As I said, for SWIM, the style of her is especially resonant with hyperspace experiences. curvy, beautiful. look how beautiful her fingers are.

@Ice house: a little searching for kandy, temple of tooth, statue, etc, on google images, still reveals nothing! But thankyou so much for your reply. Im glad to have brought back good memories.

To me , even though the spice originates on another continent, the Images of eastern mysticism, as well as Yoga, meditation all seem to fit nicely into the spice experience. I love Buddhist art, and have many kwan(guan) yin images in my home.

Psychedelics potentiate Meditation into something far beyond this new age hippy clean-lifestyle B.S that we're fed by companies like danone.

REAL meditation, I feel, was designed and discovered by some poor caveman who needed a rock to hold onto during some raging mushroom storm, or whatever.
Yogic techniques work very, very, very well under the influence of psychedelics. Tantra, yantra... etc. As terrence mckenna said, you want to be stoned on X at
the base of the holy mount yahoo on the equinox and the alighnment of the five outer rings of saturn... that's not the exact quote but you get the idea. Chant,
be at the holy place, take the compounds, sing, meditate, pray, dance up and down and stomp the ground. THAT's where its at!!
