Naphtha: vm & p naphtha 800Pickling lime is used for food, so it's safe. Lye: ComStar Drain OpenerFind food safe lye....drain cleaner will almost always have additives. Not flaming, but Google is your friend. It would have taken you the same amount of time to look up the MSDS as anyone else.

ComStar seems safe anyway, those additives won't play any role in the extraction and won't end up in the spice. And they're sodium chloride and carbonate, so hell, it's food safer than lye. DMT T-Shirts, badges, mugs...Comments by SGSMP are fantastic fabrications.

My friend's been using drain cleaner, and ending up with a relatively pure product but needs to do a recrystal before he feels comfortable with it.
