I started doing this before my first DMT experience when I was experimenting with the Uberman sleep schedule, which requires that one sleep for 20 minutes every 4 hours. The reasoning behind the schedule is that eventually you start sleeping only in REM sleep, immediately after falling asleep. This is the only phase you really need, it seems, and is the one during which you dream and your brain produces small amounts of DMT. But that's not what I'm here to post about. I'm here to tell you about this awesome way of "meditating" that I subsequently learned. This method is influenced by what I've learned from different sources about dreaming, fitness/health, and meditating. Here it is:
1. Lay down flat on your back, facing up, whole body aligned and symmetrical. You can place your hands on your thighs, if that's comfortable for you.
2. Take deep, steady breaths through your nose only. If congested or something, try starting by exhaling through your mouth and inhaling through nose, then move on to nose-only.
i. The inhalations: fill your lungs completely, hold for a second or two, then let air out.
ii. The exhalations: After some air has escaped by normal force, begin steadily, slowly, pushing out air, not stopping until you have use your abs to empty you lungs. Then let air go back in, and begin inhaling.
3. Do not move at all. You can move a little at first, but
aim to completely let go of control over your body, and to ignore sensations (itching, twitches, etc.).
4. As in meditation, try not to think too much. If you're having conversation/argument with yourself, you're not doing it right.
i. The "blackness": I eventually notice the complete darkness behind my eyelids, then I focus on it, letting it envelop me or me envelop it.
ii. The "noise": I noticed in the
Hyperspace Lexicon that you guys describe something that seems similar to a noise that I hear 10-15 minutes into this as Carrier Waves. It is usually a high-pitched tone which gets more intense the more I focus on it. Sometimes when I've felt fully "aligned" with this tone, I experiment with my mind and get weird results.
Normally when people go to bed they toss around for a while, and eventually find it's morning. What happens is that while we toss around with our eyes closed, melatonin accumulates in our brains, making us sleepier and acting like a narcotic, so that we don't stay conscious as our bodies are paralyzed and our minds drift into sleep. I'm not really sure exactly what it is that my method does, but I think it may allow one to experience this "crossing over" into sleep, or even better, dreams, without losing the memory of it. Within 15 minutes I'm at least partially paralyzed, or, if I was focusing and ready to do it, fully paralyzed and/or getting crazy sensations of floating or flying around and being bombarded with voices and sounds.
I can never remember the specific sentences I'm shown (on signs; it's happened twice), or the specific sentences I'm told by voices. So have a notebook and pen nearby if you want to write down these things when they happen. Also, if you don't want to actually sleep, set a timer for 30 minutes. Then do it again if you want
The method works the fastest when you are already sleepy, but still only takes 20 minutes to have an OBE/"trip" if done correctly. I'll gladly answer any questions I can; gl hf!
The above is for entertainment purposes only.
