How do you define success? how do you achieve success? So many interesting people here, I wanted to get some different perspectives. I'll post mine pending responses!

JBArk the curious
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

the definition of success is obviously relative. i would define success as the recognition of "as within so without". the most important purpose of life defies the traditional definition of the word "purpose"; the "purpose" is to simple BE. Nothing more. It is to be CONSCIOUS. of course we're all conscious at some level or else we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between for ex bitter and sweet taste. but to be conscious of the consciousness itself requires "effortless effort" and comes with a certain level of awareness. I believe no matter what one chooses to do, as long as he/she is aware of the awareness itself (and CONSISTENT with this recognition), they're successful. A person can accomplish many great tasks, and help the world like no one has before, but if s/he is not in the consistent flow of recognition of oneself as that unnameable emptiness, they're not as successful as they have the potential to be. I would also call this state of ever-present consistent recognition nirvana/enlightenment. I personally "think" i'm far from this state (teachings say that the very idea that enlightenment isn't already present here is the reason we seek, and don't become finders. we've been looking in the wrong place.)
I consider myself only partially successful, but believe that true success comes effortlessly if we only stop trying/doing. my work is in progress...
Very happy

success . . . . . achieving fullfillment at or with, what it is your doing or experiencing, while maintaining the highest degree of integrity.

An example of this could be a person who sets a goal or sets a standard for himself and achieves it, while being honest and true to himself and in that quest, walking the walk.

No two people truely measure it the same way.

Ice House is an alter ego. The threads, postings, replys, statements, stories, and private messages made by Ice House are 100% unadulterated Bull Shit. Every aspect of the Username Ice House is pure fiction. Any likeness to SWIM or any real person is purely coincidental. The creator of Ice House does not condone or participate in any illicit activity what so ever. The makebelieve character known as Ice House is owned and operated by SWIM and should not be used without SWIM's expressed written consent.

Exactly why I asked the question! I want as many definitions as there are members. What is success to you? Can it ever be achieved, or is it a dangling carrot...?
