Hyperspace Instruments - On a Budget Options

I have been looking at some amazing instruments lately, specifically hang drums and singing bowls. They have incredible sound that I would love to be able to experiment with before/during/after hyperspace! However they are quite pricey and I cannot justify adding the nice ones into my budget.

Are there any other similar style instruments available that can produce such amazing sounds for less money?

Also I know some singing bowls can be purchased online (ebay etc) for low prices but I fear the sound will be lacking. I highly doubt this question will be fruitful but does anyone have experience with these cheaper singing bowls???

I got my bowl from Swayambhunath in Katmandu, and while you would expect it to be cheaper there then imported online. The market was well used to seeing loaded tourists (which i am not one of).
So the prices were bumped. Nothing wrong with some bartering.

I cant say what quality the ones online are like. But i did spend 3 hours looking through the market trying to find the one i felt had the best tone.

The best bowls will have been made from an alloy of four metals, and will have up to three distinct tones when struck.

You can fill them with water and run the beater around the outside edge for some impressive cymatics.

Not quite the same, but I vote didgeridoo. You can a PVC one off of ebay for $20-50 and are quite easy to play, harder to master (as with most things).

VERY meditative, I've used didgeridoos during Aya cerimonies and it is amazing. My friend and I have two that are almost perfect pitch, and we play didg duets (I guess)....Amazing during Aya, or even if a friend plays it during a vaporized launch.

Again, not the same as a singing bowl or hanging drum (good luck getting one of those, 2 guys make em, that's it, and they are backordered for years from what I understand.

Panflutes and tinwhilstles, can never go wrong. Even a dijembe can be played for hours on end.

A bit pricy but ZenTambour makes a simplified halo and comes in a variety of colors/scales. Definitely something to look at for your netherworldy needs Smile

thanks for the suggestions! After some more research I think im going to attempt to build a 6 tone tongue drum. the sound is amazing and the design while specific is very simple.

Why not also a kalimba? Simple and cheap and it has a nice earthly sound.
