Quote: Quoting one ayahuasca shaman, Shanon warns that ayahuasca can also be “the worst of liars,” leaving some users gripped by delusions. hmm... sounds like a few of the conclusions people come to here on the Nexus. still, this article rings with some real truths, we need to be responsible about these chemicals. *We are now at a phase of human development where we have accumulated an enormous amount of knowledge through scientific research in the material world. When it says "Why is DMT so fascinating? For starters, DMT is the only psychedelic known to occur naturally in the human body" I thought bufotenin for example was also found naturally in the body... But yeah interesting nonetheless.. Even though its a guest blog, its still nice to see a general good view on psychedelics coming out in more mainstream media like scientific american. Funny he had 'The Fear' on aya and it scared him away

Yeah there are 1 or 2 lines in this article that are incorrect. DMT being the primary content of ayahuasca also isn't true. Ayahuasca is the main content of ayahuasca Also, I think saying DMT is the most mind bending of all psychedelics is also misleading. It makes it sound way more sinister than it has to be.

But guys - scientific american! some applause is due, no? And reason for celebration - in the space of one week, 2 reputable and institutional publications (nytimes being the other) about hallucinogens and psychedelic research. This is no knowledgestick youtube stuff. This is the beginning of what we've been waiting for, no? I'm prepared to forgive a few minor editorial errors. I for, one, and crackin' the veuve and bubblying my may to the giggles! cheers!
