Is it my imagination, or are these on the rise?
Especially from our newer members with fewer posts, I don't know should these be allowed
given the nature of the site and the hobby?

I decided to use my real face, choosing to be bold, facing the world as myself, as I am:

I am a blue elephant, with many jimjam arms. They'll never take me alive

Honestly? If you're on here you're 18+. If by that time you haven't realized how important discretion can be and have chosen to post a real picture of your face, that's on you. I don't think we should ban face pics. If you are willing to post a real image of yourself on this site, then you are saying (through your actions) that as an adult, you are willing to deal with any "real world" repercussions that come as a result of you choosing that avatar. Personally, I don't think it puts the community at higher risk, which should be our number one concern, nor do I feel that it does anything to put the spice more in the public eye.

Finally, not to offend anyone, but without naming any names, there are individual(s) who have given enough information out about themselves that anyone with a reasonable intellect can piece together who they are. As these individual(s) were allowed to post that information (and may or may not be in the "public eye" ), I see no reason to prevent the posting of real face avatars when they are no more revealing...In fact, I would posit that they are less revealing as you can't find out anything from just a picture (unless you have some bomb-ass facial recognition algorithms and an awesome search engine) and individuals on here should be responsible enough to avoid saying, "oh, i know who that is, that's _________", in the event that they do recognize someone.

Hahaha! Behold the mystery of my avatar. Is it me, or is it not? You may never know lest you search the jungle far and wide! Hahaha! Laughing

Yeah they started doing that on Edot a while ago, and it seems to have caught on here now.

Me being me, I just assumed that government agents started the fad, to encourage others to expose themselves to biometric harvesting! Laughing

Doesn't bother me though... maybe the agents will get lazy and only bother to bust people with photos. Pleased
(Not that Dreamer is bustable, he's strictly organic these days.)

Yeah sorry... that must have been quite a shock for you seeing a big assed whale slapping up the side of a shallow stream half way up a mountain.

Still though, when in rome...

If they ever bother with the little fish that don't sell stuff, we are all in the same boat. SWIMMERS and non-SWIMMERS, those who use clever disclaimers in their signature, people who use real pics as an avatar.

If they really want to waste the resources to bust someone that makes and uses personal amounts, all that stuff won't make much difference. Luckily, that will never happen! Way too expensive for such a tiny little bust.

Pokey I hope you look like that in real life. I like the thought that there are psychedelic space monkeys out there.

The "big fish" should be aware enough not to visit a place like this from a home pc. It's the "little fish" that could get unlucky. If something unfortunate should happen, like an electrical fire or act of god, and the police should discover something silly in one's home, the last thing you'd want is for the investigation into this "dangerous drug production facility" to turn up posts with your face on them talking about extractions.

My photo is old too.

I’ve grown another bird-hand since that pic was taken.

Funny you say that, cuz I do too. I'm sure we all do. If some day I meet any of you guys, and you look like average every day citizens I'm going to be sadly disappointed! Jorkest's avatar comes to mind. I TOTALLY envision him as little gnome guy. Razz

Hahaha, yes! I was just telling that to someone the other day. For some reason jorkest sticks out particularly,

Big fish? I dont understand... big DMT fish? Dmt isnt sold like a drug. Its a sacrament. A divine molecule not some narcotic to be peddled by 'big fish'

I dont think you will find any 'big fish' here.
