I did my first STB extraction yesterday afternoon and yielded about .8% of my original product. Not bad for my first try, I suppose. I used Noman's tek; all but the ammonia wash. The spice I was left with after filtering and drying is mostly clear/off-white, but there is a very subtle red-orange hue present in the crystals. The only thing I can think of is that I may have nabbed some of the lye/bark/water solution when I was siphoning the naphtha, which ended up in my freeze precip jars. Any ideas as to what this stuff may be?

I think this is probably your problem.

More red/orange than this? Bioassay has revealed this level of coloring perfectly fine, plant oils picked up from heated solvent.

Could be the unknow red contam from using ppmhrb and STB.

Was the mimosa prepowered?

Either way, it's probably fine to smoke.
