I know I've seen quite a few folks on here mention that they're working on writing books. I think it's really cool that so many people here have been so inspired. I'm one of them; I'm working on a book about the psychoactive plants that have played central roles in human cultures throughout history. My approach is multidisciplinary, focusing on history, chemistry, pharmacology, effects, and human use. It's a hefty project but I enjoy writing and take pleasure in the work. So let's hear it: How many of you are aspiring authors or writers? What sort of books or projects are you working on?

I am compiling one of poetry, experiences, art, ideas and opinions all based around entheogenic activity. Just something fun and thought compelling to read about our favorite topics in the universe :] It will be freely distributed online as a .pdf and will be passed around gatherings I attend.

I've written one book last year (literary fiction). Got it's good and it's bad parts, not sure if it's really worth the edit but i might finish the editing just so my friends can read it.

I am writing one. The main dilema I have is I have about 120,000 words but it will take me a long time to organize it into a book. If you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing.

It's cool to see how many of us are writers or aspiring writers of one variety or another. Obliguhl, congrats on finishing. Have you thought about shopping it around to publishers once you give it a once-over edit? All they can say is yes or no.

It's hard to get published. Especially for a first time writer usually you have to actually pay for the printing yourself. There are resources out there to use I think amazon actually has some deal where they will 'publish' your book you pay for X amount of copies to be made and they put it up on their site you get the money from the sales. Still most of what those here are writing about is stuff that would be of interest to only a select few type of people. But people here are writing as a output for their experiences so wealth and fame is not their motivation. If you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing.

Thanks entropymancer! I don't know. It would propably need some heavy editing and rewriting because some parts are just so childish, i don't know wether i should laugh or cry. But other chapters sound amazing and I owe that to psychs because it shaped the way i write. More synaesthesia prose.

Drugs basically.

Me!
Entropymancer,
It's good to see a fellow Shroomery member on here!
My book is The DMT Chronicles: Parmenides, Plato, and the Psychedelic.
If anybody is looking for a publisher, feel free to PM me. My friend is opening up a printing press soon called The Translinguistic Press, which will specialize in printing books about the psychedelic experience. My book is going to be the first book they publish.
