Quote:
"[DMT] is not on the cover of Time magazine, and there's no press conferences where the president has to address the nation [saying] they've found the gateway to heaven [...] The body's production of DMT occurs when you're in heavy REM sleep, and it occurs when your brain thinks it's about to die — when you're under extreme stress, you know, car accidents, things like that — you pump out this chemical," he explains.

Even though he's upset over the ignorance surrounding DMT, he clearly loves doing his standup, though he admits it can be hard to begin with, because no one ever starts out being as funny as a Richard Pryor or a Jerry Seinfeld. In the beginning, everyone sucks.

Joe Rogan, get your facts straight, man.
If you're going to use the spice in a stand up act to blow peoples' minds and grab their attention
at least tell them how it is...
You're just rehashing rumors...

Anyway, I was doing a DMT search through the news, and found this. Thought I'd post it...

He uses the spice to gain attention, to boost his carreer. It's disgusting.

I don't see how much of what he sais about dmt is much different from half the stuff I read here? People still think dmt is involved in dreams, its a gateway to spirit worlds, pineal weirdness, the list goes on.

I agree though he should get his facts straight but so should some people here.

His words carry much more weight. There's a huge difference between me saying, that it's speculated that DMT is produced by the pineal gland and a wildly popular standup comedian, a person ideolized by many raving about the possibilitys of dmt, presenting them as facts.

I think it's great he brings it up. I really dont think he's doing it for a career boost..he doesnt come off as that kind of guy. It's just something you feel you HAVE to tell others about, don't we all feel that way about it?

But I agree, he doesn't really get very specific about the details. Then again, he's not a professor giving a lecture, but a comedian entertaining people. I'm glad he speaks of it, just wish he'd explain it a little more professionaly.

My thoughts exactly.

I think it's good he brings it up. He makes it sound like something the average guy can experience. He doesn't make it sound like crack or something else harmful, but instead makes it sound harmless by pointing out that it’s responsible for dreaming (even if that’s not correct, it sounds nice to others).
You may remember me as 69Ron. I was suspended years ago for selling bunk products under false pretenses. I try to sneak back from time to time under different names, but unfortunately, the moderators of the DMT-Nexus are infinitely smarter than I am.

Yeah but hes not a very popular comedian more people see him during UFC where he is a commentator. His DMT tattoo stays covered so you cant see it and he only talks about the fights. Really the people that watch him are his fans who probably already know something about dmt. I applaud him its no different than D.Hopper and Peter Coyote saying they used acid and said it was great. Hopefully more people will speak up about this kind of thing.

I agree, I think it's good he's making people aware of it..

He's honestly not too bad at standup.. I just wish he'd go into more detail instead of continuing to spread the dmt-pineal speculation around as if it was solid fact.

I saw this article, there really wasn't much there at all, was there? I dunno, I'm glad he talks about it, but he comes across as more of a fanboy and less of a psychonaut, which I think is potentially detrimental. And there's obviously all the common spice mythology that he's perpetuating...

The most interesting aspect of this article, to my mind, was that it was titled "Joe Rogan Shares His Love of DMT With The Masses", kinda reminds you of that old title for a particular tek "DMT For the Masses". Could it possibly be a secret nod at the old school title of Noman's Tek, or is it merely coincidence?

And what premise do you base this off of?

Ya, his schtick is a drag. I don't know if I blame him so much as Strassman for making these myths the de facto pop culture talking point though. He's just regurgitating the nonsense, and unfortunately causing many others in his wake to further perpetuate it.

My gut feeling. You can't really prove something like that. Maybe I just distrust dominatory culture which Joe Rogan certainly is a part of as a popular figure in mainstream media. It*'s a prejudice.

I've never heard of the guy outside of this forum. The way I see it though, is that people can talk about whatever they want as long as if they tell me about it, they don't mind me calling BS on them.

I've heard him speak numerous times of DMT and he seems to really have a respect for it. Honestly, he sounds just like 99% of the people here on this forum. In fact, I bet he IS here on this forum. DMT Nexus is the pinnacle of DMT research, why wouldn't he be here?

He speaks of his experiences and love for the spirit molecule, as we do. Sure he has a louder voice, but does that mean he should have no voice?

If he's a member of this forum I have respect for, my attitude will certainly change a bit because that would propably remove much of the social stigma of beeing a part of the establishment. Razz

/gasp

I'm so-so on his personal views of psychedelics, but he sure has some hilarious videos on youtube of stand-up comedy that is interrupted by heckler and so far he has always shut them down completely. There is also a great video of Joe Rogan vs Carlos Mencia that features Rogan calling out Mencia on stealing jokes with the back-up of 4-5 other comedians.
Do not listen to anything, "Steely" says. He is a made up character that his owner likes to role play with. His owner is very delusional and everything he says is completely untrue and ridiculous.

I don't think most people look to Joe Rogan for serious advise about DMT. Even if he might inspire some people to give it a try I am sure most of those people would look into it before deciding to try it.

I actually just listened to that you tube thing he put up. Its no worse then anything terrence mckenna said just with more swearing.

I think when Strassman was writing this stuff he was largely speculating. At the time it made sense to speculate about this stuff. Now more evidence came out that suggests some of his ideas were wrong. I think in due time Strassman or someone like him will eventually update the public. Reading the science literature about dmt (which isn't much at all) you can already see that researchers seem to have moved on from dream theories / pineal gland stuff. The recent ideas is that dmt is a neurotransmitter. But yea that knowledge doesn't distill into the publics mind until enough people write articles / books for the lay man about it.
