Solvents and salts Q Options

When extracting DMT why do we use solvents like ronsonol and salts like NaOH?

I know this is a stupid question, but I dont know much about chemistry. In my mind when I think NaOh and ronsonol I think fire and burning!

How can these be used in extraction of MHRB, what are their purpose and what do they do? does the DMT still have these impurities in it when smoked?

I wouldn't ever under go any kind of extraction until i knew why, and these work.

The tek I am intrested in is STB.

Everything this user types is a lie.

Thank you for your help, has SWIM got a link to this food-safe tek, is it pretty simple?

i have a question: why do people fear chemicals? Confused

they're not something to fear, if you can just follow a simple protocol.

fear is the whole reason many people think of meth when they hear the word "lye". pure ignorance fueled by media, and people who know nothing about chemistry.

if you just prefer to use food-grade, fine... but the phobia of relatively harmless hydrocarbons is just paranoia.

so be it
i'll help people get over their fear of chemicals.
i've worked with them for 14 years.

naptha and other medium aliphatic hydrocarbons have known carcinogenic properties... and one should avoid exposure as much as possible. 100% food safe means 100% safety of mind I guess.

medium aliphatics aren't necessarily carcinogenic. fatty acids are actually aliphatic hydrocarbons of similar length.
the ones that are carcinogenic are some aromatics which can form epoxide metabolites via liver oxidase enzymes, benzene is one such compound.

Thank you xtal I think I shall use this Food-safe a/b extraction. But will still need to ask many questions on it as im still unsure when reading though it, but i'll start a new thread for that in due course.

Benzyme I do not fear chemicals, however I was under the impression they were carcinogens like Xtal said. If there is a More natural organic way of doing something that is what I would Personally opt for.

can't get more organic than hydrocarbons Wink
they come from a natural source.

lol, I just wiki'd that, and well yeah you have a point, they are organic. Still Lime and Vinegar sounds nicer than sodium hydroxide and ronsonol.

One word... Carcinogens. Maybe I should read up on these chemicals....

you should read up on the primary [environmental] causes of cancer.
two words: oxidants, and (free) radicals.

a well-executed A/B using HCl, NaOH, and naptha should not leave anything particularly toxic.
vaporization is the way, combustion of anything organic will produce free radicals, which is why smoking causes cancer.

in any case, people may prefer less toxic chemicals food-safe chemicals to make extractions, so yeah do read up on those teks if you're interested, Al
