Flaming lips are pretty damn good. I like Yoshimi battles the pink robots Smile

I'm a big fan of Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Hoopy frood, Riverside, TRIPSWITCH (my favourite Smile ) Ott, Abakus, Psypilot (best psy trance ever)... there's a lot. I'm not a favourite band kind of guy... it's usually what I'm listening to at the time but the above bands/artists are the ones that seem to be standing the test of time.

Dead Can Dance when I want to commune with Spirit.

Pink Floyd when I want to know how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Ozric Tentacles and Amon Tobin for the deepest psychedelia and the greatest brain-fuck possible.

Banco de Gaia for beauty and elegance.

Works of Simon Posford and similar artists (Ott, Younger Brother, Capsula, Carbon Based Lifeforms, etc.) for delicious artificial food.

Silence (Pete Namlook's project) when I'm out in space. Biosphere's Substrata when that space has dark undertones.

Depeche Mode's Songs of Faith and Devotion album because it touches me in places nothing else does.

Elend, early albums of The Cure (Pornography, Faith) and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds when I get depressed or angry at the world.

My requirements change all the time, but lately I pretty much survive on an auditory diet of Tom Waits, Radiohead, Johnny Cash and Jeff Buckley.

I LOVE this tune by The Flaming Lips, it is just so, so beautiful.
Do You Realize?

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun don'-go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Oh great - the world has just been replaced by elf machinery.
Sic transit gloria mundi

Finally someone mentions this band! DCD is pure magic. They are (were) also from the first bands to create and vastly enlarge the audience of ethnic/cultural music. Most bands who play things like celtic/folk/neofolk/medieval/arabian middle east ethnic/shamanic/native american/australian/whatever music come second to dcd.

Elend sucks for many reasons, but few bands can beat The Cure and Nick cave.

I LOVE Lisa Gerards voice. The "Serpents egg" album is music to ascend to Smile

I really like "disintegration" "kiss me kiss me kiss me" and "bloodflowers"

I had my first kiss worth remembering with "plain song" in the background. Awesome Smile

4:13 Dream, the most recent album is a great listen for me too!

You've obviously never listened to good dub-step. D&B sounds like someone ate a half gram of molly and started playing with a drum machine. Its ok but its hard to dance that fast. Dub-Step is Bass heavy, if you don't like heavy bass and actually feeling the music instead of just hearing it then it's not for you. It spawned from Hip-Hop and Two-Step, I'm from the hood parts of St Louis so everyone listens to Hip-Hop so my natural answer was rip the black guy out crank the bass and make it sound fucking crazy as shit, then you've got Dub-Step. It'll shake everyone's car within a 20 foot radius.
