I made a photo thread a long time ago documenting my travels with wattles.. but in the recent years I've upped my game quite a bit and thought I'd share some newer shots.. I think these images do a good job of capturing the character of these sacred trees and I feel more than ever that it is a good time for people to appreciate how beautiful they are - and to take a moment to thank them for the vast ways in which they make this world better Smile

Recently lost my camera/lenses and the like so feeling pretty sad that I can't capture the spring time here.. hopefully it turns up soon.

onwards..

no particular order to these and hope you enjoy them

first one here is Acacia neurophylla.. A wattle from Western Australia. Not shy in its pose! In fact there's something very tryptamine like in the way it seethes towards the camera.. a kind of physical metaphor for the way the spirit moves in the beyond

A local one in my area that grows on the steep gorge/waterfall country.. Acacia blakei subsp. diphylla

It gets it's name due to the duel nature of its phyllodes. When its young they are large, round and almost balloon like.. as they age they become more narrow and falcate. Its also known as the wollomombi wattle.. you'll see it in some pretty jaw dropping locations .. and after heavy rain it is often close to the roaring of huge waterfalls close by

I call the second one "The butterfly summoning".. a lucky moment where the curves of the flower and phyllodes matched perfectly with the motion of a butterfly enjoying its flowers.. giving an impression of the tree summoning it into existence

this one I think we can all appreciate the significance of.. and give huge gratitude. I wonder where we would be if it didn't make itself known back in 1965..

The ever fragrant and mysterious Acacia melanoxylon .. widespread across eastern OZ. Highly variable in appearance area to area.. often confused with the previous tree when not in flower.

I really love the one where you frame the yellow flower with the towering tree behind it. Keep them coming.
I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.
