The story of my first and accidental DMT trip Options

This happened in approximately 2006 or 2007 when I lived in San Francisco. A friend of mine from my time at the University of Colorado - Boulder who had also moved to San Francisco called me up at 9:30 am on the Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend so everyone had Monday off work and it was the last Dollar Sunday at Golden Gate Downs Race Track. Now I am not much of a gambler and know zero about horses but before I could propose an alternative activity my friend said "Look buddy, get up, shower, put on a linen suit, and we will pick you up in 1 hour. We have a 1/4 keg of beer, a vial of LSD, a tank of medical-grade nitrous, and a half ounce of MDMA. You are coming. Get your ass in gear." So I agreed, got my ass in the shower, and was ready when they pulled up an hour later.

It was myself, my friend Ryan, his girlfriend, and his roommate. His girlfriend was putting drops of acid in her eyes off and on all day. We were taking knuckle-deep thumb prints of MDMA and drops of LSD and hits of Nitros all day. I think we stayed at the track for maybe an hour before his roommate who was driving was like "Fuck this. I want to get fucked up too. So we are going home so I don't have to leave the car here. Good plan on his part." We ran around the Haight and Golden Gate Park for the rest of the day. Went to a bar and eventually made it back to their house.

We had all sat down to smoke some weed. I packed a huge bowl of SF medical-grade cannabis with some hash on top. I passed the greens to Ryan's girlfriends and continued my conversation with Ryan. Now earlier in the night, there had been some discussion of his roommate having a bit of DMT but that was it. She hits the bong and hands it back to me. What I had not noticed is that when I had handed her the bong she had added a whole bunch of DMT in between the hash and the flower. She did not bother to mention this to me. I proceed to take a huge hit. Well, you can imagine what happened next. Thankfully I had enough brain left inside my skull as I blasted off to think to myself that there was only one drug I had ever heard of that could project me into this absolutely magical place and that was DMT. I didn't say anything to anyone but just sat back and enjoyed the entities and the machine elves until I landed back in the room and thanked her for neglecting to mention she was putting DMT on top of my bong load of weed.

So that was my first DMT experience. Since then I have done Ayahuasca and vape DMT regularly. I am most interested in synthesized DMT vs extracted DMT. I would also love to do an IV DMT trip at some point. That sounds absolutely like the best time ever. If you read this far thanks for reading my story.

When you thanked her for handing you DMT without your knowledge, are you being sarcastic? It is very bad to dose people without their consent. This should never be done. Do you agree?

Totally agreed, I hope he was being sarcastic. I would be so pissed if someone did this to me. Especially with a substance as strong as DMT is. It could of gone very much the other way and could of been a terrible experience, luckily you enjoyed it but I would not be okay with someone if they did this.

Yes, this is an alarming safety issue and is the complete antithesis to harm reduction. And there's a term for this: dose rape...

Most psychonauts have war stories like this. First time I had full-on Ego Death was a result of a "friend" who dosed me more LSD than expected. And, while it was quite a shock at the time it was also one of the most profound experiences of my life. One of those "Adventure is discomfort recounted at leisure" things.

But yes, surprise-dosing is a no-no. It's a violation of someone's trust, consciousness and personal integrity.

It's really difficult for me to have respect for someone that would dose someone against their knowledge.

My mother was dosed by someone at a college party and it turned her off from drugs permanently and she never experimented past cannabis because of it. She said it was an awful experience and thought she was dying and had to go to the hospital. It traumatized her. She's in her late 60's now and thriving, but she was 18 at the time and her disdain for drugs and psychedelics made my relationship with her difficult when I was younger, as I was experimenting with altered states of consciousness.

Good for you for being able to handle a bong hit of DMT for your first ever experience, but wow... I just don't like that story.

I was improperly dosed by a friend on two different occasions, one with LSD, and one with MDMA. Although I was an experienced user, it was still a very difficult experience, and it would have been unbearable and dangerous for a less experienced user.

I just want to make sure all young folks are CRYSTAL CLEAR on this issue: When you dose yourself it is therapeutic or recreational. If you dose someone without consent it is ASSAULT pure and simple. It does NOT matter how the person reacts. It is not fun. It is not funny. It is never a good idea. It indicates a deep and serious MORAL FAILING. Non consensual activities that may cause unnecessary suffering are one easy and accurate way to define the word EVIL as a verb.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

That's just wrong to do that to someone. It's not the kind of powerful experience one wants sneaking up on them especially for a first time. Not funny. I'm glad the experience wasn't bad for you but one really needs dmt use to be a decision made with attention to set and setting for the ride.
