I just saw Prisoners a few weeks ago. Man that movie is really GREAT! Great story, super acting, it gave me the chills...

Also I recommend Mr Nobody.

Muscle Shoals (about Music & the Shoals area) this is good.
"Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama is the unlikely breeding ground for some of America's most creative and defiant music. Under the spiritual influence of the 'Singing River' as Native Americans called it, the music of Muscle Shoals changed the world and sold millions upon millions of copies. At its heart is Rick Hall who founded FAME Studios. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, he brought black and white together in Alabama's cauldron of racial hostility to create music for the generations while giving birth to the 'Muscle Shoals Sound' and 'The Swampers'. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Percy Sledge, Gregg Allman, Clarence Carter, Etta James, Alicia Keys, Bono, and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals' magnetism, mystery, and why it remains influential today. Don't think its been mentioned yet but just watched "Triangle".

Definitely worth a look http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187064/.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be,
reaching out to me, lets me see.
There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these,
infinite possibilities.

Very very surprised to not see Blueberry (released as Renegade in the U.S.) anywhere in this thread.

Seriously on my top ten. I love this movie!

Blueberry / Renegade is a psychedelic/shamanistic western nased on the Blueberry comic books. The director went on over 100 rituals and recorded real icaros for the movie. Has Eddie Izzard and Juliette Lewis.

AMAZING trip scenes that are over 12 minutes of continuous amazement! Everyone on the forum should see this at least once!

Above link was the trailer, here's the full movie.

I saw Partical Fever in the theater yesterday. It's a documentary about the large hadron collider. It was great and I recommend it!

I just saw "UNDER THE SKIN", the new Jonathon Glazer film (sexy beast, birth). Blown away. Unique. Not sure what I think of it though - intriguing and well worth the watch, but strip away the strangeness and it is pretty superficial (not in the colloquial sense, rather just addresses things on the surface, not delving too deep). I like films (and books, and music for that matter) with layers, that beg questions and challenge. This just sat there being unique.

Anyone else see it? thoughts?

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

Read the book, watched the movie many times on the come down from pharma. What are you doing???? Go see this movie!!

And, though it's been mentioned, it hasn't been given a very intriguing teaser here:

The Man From Earth: A 14,000 year old man who is essentially immortal, but not a vampire (soooooo played out), tells his story to his skeptical friends before leaving town.

He is a Cro-Magnon who states the Buddha was the most extraordinary man he ever met, and . . .
well, you'll have to watch it to see.

Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. Burt's Buzz

I loved this documentary about Burt Shavitz, the founder of Burt's Bees. A highly idiosyncratic person whose story I think will interest many here as a case study for an attempt to live a non-standard life. On Netflix in the US.
