Well you know those spiky ball things that fall from trees in the spring? One day I spent an hour or so taking a whole bunch of close-up pics of them and ended up with this guy. I sprayed with a syrupy sugar water to give it a glossy, sappy texture. The rest is photoshop. A good way I have found to distort things to the point of making them unrecognizable is to take a close-up and set the focus slightly past the front of the object (this technique really only works with object that have significant depth) so that it kind of blurs distinguishing details. sososo many avenues. anon_003 attached the following image(s): photo (41).JPG (398kb) downloaded 323 time(s).Once in a while, you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Hey everyone, I've only been through a few pages but there's a lot of inspiring stuff here, keep it up! These can be found in my first trip report thread but I thought I'd to share them here. An attempt to illustrate what I saw that night. A painting inspired from a recent urge to visit mushroom land again. Soon.

"Meteor Shower Party" "The TimeGate at Luna 3" I really like your style Handel. Have you by chance heard of the artist Sonny Kay? He has a kinda similar vibe going to you, different but still in the same ball park... Anyway, I enjoy your work very much, keep on keepin' on! "The love I've made is the shape of my space"

Thank you guys! Inner Paths: I just checked out Sonny Kay. Yeah, he has a similar vibe! Although, I think I'm more similar to a group of a few collage artists who are currently pretty popular on Tumblr. Collage is currently in its golden age (started around 2011). If you like my style, check out Cur3es, GlassPlanet, Jesse Treece, Mesineto. Among us, we all make similar surreal collages, but I think I'm the only one among them with direct references to entheogens occasionally. ;-) Cur3es is probably my all time favorite artist: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cur3es/

Awesome Handel, I will check out those links ASAP. I've read a few interviews with Sonny Kay where he mentions his experiences with DMT and other entheogens and I can see a bit of that influence in there. I've had flirtations on and off with digital art on photoshop and it's usually collage stuff I'll muck around with but I am a complete newb and need to acquire better technique to accomplish anything presentable just yet. Plus music takes up the majority of my time at the moment but I want to find my way back to visual art and I think digital will be the way I'd do it (I put down the pencils at age nine as soon as I found my calling with music but I had a good knack for drawing as a wee lad). I once had a concept for a graphic novel where this alien dude among a few others would act as gate keepers to hyperspace. Having not yet ventured to hyperspace myself yet to have a clue what they might actually look like, I kind of abandoned the project, but I still think this was a fun drawing and thought you guys might get a kick out of it. Have you guys ever tried drawing entities from hyperspace?

Have you guys ever tried drawing entities from hyperspace? Nice work.......I used to draw comics myself.....though just pen and ink work..... I've only doodled one entity, but I haven't seen that many, maybe four or five, most of which I can't reproduce, though the woman made of golden cubes of light that danced on my ceiling would make a cool comic character. Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future. ---David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas

Art, you have astounding attention to detail. Can't wait to see him in color. ...and speaking of color, Pup: that color fade is surreal. I've seen that soft transition between sunset colors in hyperspace before. Simply awesome. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
