Thanks, I'll move it somewhere where the light is better. I was under the impression that Lophophera liked shadier spots.
They do, but they also need a certain amount of light too. While we're at it, "Melvin" is looking a tad etiolated as well. Thanks. Yeah, Melvin and the Loph graft were side by side in the same window, I moved both of them under a light until the weather gets a little warmer and drier, then I will move them outside into a spot on the side of the house. It's still raining like 3 or 4 days a week here right now otherwise I'd just put them both outside. May we continue to be blessed

I think Melv will enjoy the rain a whole lot, especially if there's a bit of shelter from it to prevent waterlogging. Given the nature of the stock (base), the Loph graft will most probably be OK too but I'd hesitate to actually recommend that because I haven't done it myself (yet). Sunburn is the main thing to watch out for at first when putting them outside. Get them accustomed to the outdoor UV levels gradually. Sometimes I give my plant little hats or a parasol! “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. I took that under advisement and put them both on my side porch. It gets good coverage from the rain and even get about 4-5 hours a day of direct sunlight. Hopefully that will remedy my etoliation issues Best to ensure they don't get full sun between about 11am and 4pm for the first few days, until they start toughening up. I actually delayed putting my cacti out for several weeks beyond the usual date this year because it was unusually sunny, and the mid to late spring sunshine can be surprisingly intense UV-wise what with stratospheric ozone depletion. In my view, an overcast day is preferable for introducing cacti to the outdoors. I've learnt the hard way about tender cacti getting sunburn. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Two of mine flowered at the same time, a Scopulicola and a Juul's x Scopulicola. Gorgeous plants, braindrops - those overhead shots are so ASMR for me! One or two of your TBM, er, members are surprisingly long for a short form. Interesting, too, to see that you've got a TBM graft on the go there. What stock is it sitting on? Kudos also to third-eye-open for a lovely collection. Sorry for the lack of any earlier response (I was on vacation at the time). How old are the clearly seed-grown babies? Do you have any information about their genetics? “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Thanks for the compliments!
Those first two rows of TBMs all came from the one in the back left. I think they are short form since the majority of pups are pretty small, but I'm not really sure. I've only ever heard of short form and long form, but my two parent plants seem to be somewhere in between.
The grafts are both done to some PC Pedro. Got one more PC Pedro (not pictured) that will be used for grafting in the future.

You think the PC grafts well? It should be priority for me to put mine to work somehow... “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. I think the PC worked out well for grafting. Held the freshly cut TBM and PC together with three rubber bands over the top of the TBMs and looping to the PC's spines. Dusted some sulfur powder on the exposed cut areas and kept them out of direct light. Then two to three weeks later everything was good. I tried grafting to Opuntia's a few times too, but those didn't take. I've seen where people have been successful, but I'm going to stick with PC.

Wow, stunning cacti gardens here! This thread really inspires me to establish my own patch. I just got a beautiful Bridgesii cutting from a kind soul, which has proven to have a high alkaloid content. So yeah I got a baby garden that will hopefully grow into something huge .
