Infinite I wrote: Loads of great suggestions, need some new books!
Time to add PIT to the list. Free copy available online, now in print. Good, good stuff. http://psychedelic-information-theory.com/I have to 1 million percent back up Robert Anton Wilson that has been brought up a lot in this thread. I feel like he has been one of the best finds I will ever have and his model agnosticism really helps to deal with a lot of the murky waters that psychedelics can bring us to. Besides his great non-fiction which Prometheus Rising, Quantum Psychology and the first Cosmic Trigger being my favorites and most useful to me, I adore all of his fiction. The historical Illuminatus triology was re-printed by New Falcon and is a great read. Much more linear than the original Illuminatus and Shrodinger's cat (not that I don't love those). The first one is called "The Earth Will Shake". Just read my first Rudy Rucker "Mathematicians in Love" very nice SF. I am hoping I have found myself a new PKD type to devour.

When times and 'tings toss you rough... read, Nexians, read! Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - masterful, rich, funny, spooky...postmodern fiction sure, but with heart and consummate skill. The Night Visitor and other Stories by B. Traven - ah, the mysterious Traven... righteous modern fables of the Mexican outback, polemical and moving both. Enjoy, L "The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool." Richard P. Feynman

Enjoy, L Yeah, Cloud Atlas is great! I'll read The Night Visitor soon. Thanks I'd like to recommend this story: Ken Grimwood - REPLAY. It's a story of time travel, where our hero experiences ultimate psychedelic trip: re-living his life again and again... Graham Hancock's EntangledI've only got two chapters left. This book has kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time !!!! Its very well written. Its 435pgs long, but it goes by fast. Its about two girls from different time periods (the stone age and modern times), that are entangled together thru the spirit relm, by eating mushrooms and drinking aya. Their "task" is to defeat Sulpa, the eater of souls... There are cliff hangers at the end of EVERY chapter, the chapters are short and also flip-flop back and fourth between time periods. I swear its like watching a movie in your head! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! Love, Life, and Music Soulshine The tragedy of life isn't that it's too short, it's that we take too long to begin it...

I mentioned this book to house in chat and he suggested I put it in the book thread. Good idea! Tom Brown Jr claims to have learned tracking and survival along with spirituality from an old native american in his childhood. Some of his stories are a bit hard to believe, but its an interesting read http://www.trackertrail.com/books/index.htmlI think the one I read was "the tracker" but it was a long time ago and I cant remember well. Right now I'm reading "becoming animal" which is amazingly good so far. Sometimes the guy reiterates things a bit too much for my liking, but hey, thats what writers do!

I would second Borges. He puts into words the thoughts I struggle to express about the nature of reality and time. I would urge everyone to go out and buy If this is a man/The Truce by Primo Levi. They are two separate books but are best read as one and most editions have them as one. Easy to read and can be finished reasonably quickly. If this is a man is an account of how he survived Auschwitz, and The truce talks about his journey home to Italy (which took 6 months). I think that book changed my life, it certainly redefined my view on personal suffering and gratitude. "Language is a cracked kettle on which we beat out tunes for bears to dance to, while all the time we long to move the stars to pity." - Flaubert
I do not engage in or condone illegal activities. Most of what I write is on behalf of people I've bumped into, usually several years ago and in countries where the things I mention are legal.

Love, Life, and Music Soulshine Thanks for the review! I was thinking about ordering this soon after i finish a few more books.. its interesting, a few months ago i remember listening to a talk he gave where he mentioned that he had a mental/visual download of the whole story unfolding, during one of his ayahuasca trips in the amazon..and that he was compelled to put it to paper Edit- To add to the bin: The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet two funny/charming/interesting little books about Pooh Bear and Taoism, by Benjamin Hoff, that i picked up (the convenient combined version) at the recommendation of a friend.. The Maze Game - Diana Reed Slattery This psychedelically inspired piece of art was fantastic. She did a great job reeling in some gems from the imagination..here is her website http://mazerunner.wordpress.com/

This thread excites me. *The Seven Mysteries of Life - Guy Murchie I feel so alone with this book, I have read no discussion of it anywhere but I feel it has helped me understand so much and is still fascinating me every time I pick it up. SOMEONE PLEASE READ THIS SO I MAY DISCUSS IT WITH YOU!!! *Amusing Ourselves to Death - Neil Postman *Conscientious Objections, Stirring up Trouble about Language, Education and Technology - Neil Postman *The Real World of Technology - Ursula Franklin *Intelligence in Nature - Jeremy Narby *Catch-22 - Joseph Heller Anything by Steinbeck, Orwell, Huxley. Enders Game by Orson Scott Card This is also a dual version of it available called Enders War that has part 2 of the series, Speaker for the Dead included. This series has been a huge inspiration for me growing up. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...
