DMT Psychonaut - You are quite right Wink I am not a greedy materialist at heart, although I am sure on some level we all are.

Walter - that was an attempt at humour / sarcasm - more a reflection of what I often see in mainstream culture. Meeting people like that is quite saddening, but it's always nice to see that attitudes more in line with my own are still alive and well. I guess I was also interested to see what the response would be should some one bearing these sorts of views contributed.

Family.
Every tool is dangerous when misused. That is no reason not to use tools.
Isn't it strange that a gift can be an enemy?

I in no way mean any disrespect my friend. But I am curious as to exactly why you think on these lines?

Are you a Scorpio by any chance Walter.

My apologies my friend at not getting the humor! I suppose I take things such as materialism to seriously and I am very eager to debate upon the subject with people Razz

Well I read on Wikipedia that the dates for a Scorpio go from Oct. 23 to Nov. 16 or something so I would have to say no. If you don't mind me asking, why did you ask?

I recently discovered something that I found to be quite interesting and is relative to this thread so I'll share.

Anagram for "The Meaning of Life" = The fine game of nil

The meaning of life is the fine game of nothing Big grin

It seems Gibran2 wasn't too far off, or maybe already knew about this?

Self-discovery. As we discover who we are as individuals so God gets to understand a little more about himself through each of our understandings. I imagine this is the goal of all life everywhere.
All posts are from the fictional perspective of The Legendary Tek: the formless, hyperspace exploring apprentice to the mushroom god Teo. Tek, the lord of Eureeka's Castle, is the chosen one who has surfed the rainbow wave and who resides underneath the matter dome. All posts are fictitious in nature and are meant for entertainment purposes only.

And about making sure everyone can have them... we don't know why they are meaningful, and neither do monkeys, but at least monkeys don't promise heaven to their fellows in exchange for a bunch of bananas.

Sister thinks the answer to this question lies in the perspective from which it is answered.

From our subjective perspective: all of the above, there is no wrong answer, but ideally, whatever it is will inspire you.

From an objective perspective: we are here to experience creation on creations behalf, we are the nervous system of the universe. In our microcosm, we and all the other earthlings are how "creation" knows what is going on here. It sees through our eyes, hears with our ears, tastes with our tongues ... and has many other sensory modalities we know nothing about. We are it, a very small part.

Depends on your situation.

Once our physical bodies needs are met (Maslows heirachy of needs) life opens up.

My views on this have changed over the years.

Our bodies might answer sex is our biological imperative. Our hearts might answer our loved ones/friends. Our minds might answer intellectual stimulation and novelty

Our souls might answer that to Grow is what life is about.

I feel life is about 'now' - whatever that is for you.relish the now.

I think the "point" is lost when one looks too hard for it...

Currently I am away for work, it's been a week and a half and I miss my wife terribly...
I never thought much about not having her in my life until now, as this is the longest I have been away from her in 12 years. I really think the "point" is to find something you love, and stick with it, incorporate as much into your life as you can, and be happy. and through this one finds meaning. This is exactly what I have discovered over this time apart from her, without her in my life, my life has no meaning.

Well at least that's how I feel atm.

Peace
Sonorous fractal manifestastions,
birthing golden vibrations,

Life is a mechanism whereby we learn over time to make positive experiences in order to validate to ourselves our inner divinity.

We are seeking this out without even realising it, and those in power use it to manipulate us. Laughing
