To answer the OP, for some it can, others perhaps not. As for me, dmt was just the next thing.

I almost felt lied to by all of ya'll about the nature of dmt and hallucinogenic drugs. I was expecting to halluncinate when I took dmt. Instead, it was more like all of life became the hallucination. I didn't break through to hyperspace, I stumbled upon a big joke. I wanted to hallucinate and found I was the hallucination and all of life. This was probably similar to the cosmic diamond cat experience that a woman had in the 60's where wanted the antidote to the terror of dmt, but then doubted own request because there was no antidote and no one there to ask, she was experiecing the only reality ever known.... the most obvious thing, the thing that was right in front of her face the whole time.... herself.

So now I see enlightenment and dmt as just the next thing. There is no enlightenment, it was just the next step in a journey of this existence. Enlightenment was just some concept I eventually moved past. That's all enlightenment could ever be.... a conept, one that you've either achieved or not. But there's no it..... it's whatever's right in front of your face. It's this, and this and this and this. The one constant is there is a you there to see it. I don't see dmt space as any more real or less real than anything else. It's all just appearing, happening on its own, and I'll enjoy the ride until it ends, if it ends.

For me, enlightenment was realising that was the centre of everything, experiencing a flavour of that oneness where there is nothing else, just pure joy and boundless love with no limits and no other side.

Its always been like that and will always be like that. I hope that doesn't freak everyone out, because obviously you are not me, and I am not you, and thats cool but it doesn't mean that we're not one. Twoness is just like oneness, except that they're still one in the end.
