Well, then I totally disagree with LOVE, if people use it the way you do (i.e. not in the place of respect) But just to be more specific, what kind of LOVE do the love advocates advocate? What is it you talk about? What do you mean when you use this word? Need to calculate between salts and freebases? Click here! Need to calculate freebase or salt percentage at a given pH? Click here!

I can honestly say I feel a love for this community in general, and that is not just respect. I feel this community was in great part responsible for so much inner learning I went through. This learning took place in diverse levels, and I cannot help but feeling this seriously deep connection from the bottom of my heart or soul to what the nexus represents to me. This deep connection I call love. This doesnt mean I feel equally connected to all individuals that have made the mechanical act of registering to this forum (any more than I do to every human that exists).
Appart from the community in general, to many individuals I do feel specially connected though, and I feel like I've known these people forever and can immediately overcome all sorts of lower relationship 'games' that dominate common social interaction, and can be truthful and trust in a level that is hardly found even with people one has met physically for years. I understand your criticism to the possibility of some people banalizing 'I love you and/or this community' but I can also understand how it is possible and feel that way in a lot of ocasions

DMT NEXUS explorations of the spirit molecule burnt wrote:I've wasted hours of my time trying to correct peoples rediculous theories
People who are stupid should be told they are stupid
The materialists here keep angrily telling the spiritualists here, "STOP thinking X, STOP believing Y, STOP doing Z!" Yet the spiritualists here don't angrily tell the materialists here to stop doing anything, consider this for a moment. The materialists are so sure that their beliefs are "facts" and that they should control us "for the good of humanity." The spiritualists understand that you have the right to share your vibrations, but you can not control other people. This is not some place to "correct people's ridiculous theories", this is an open forum for people to share explorations. Peer-reviewed materialism, first-hand spiritualism, sharing explorations is your right, trying to control others is wrong. Attempts to control: "That's stupid, so shut up!" "Stop believing that!" "Stop thinking that!" "And stop doing that now!" Examples of sharing: "I believe this study..." "I think this is true..." "I practice this way of life and have found benefits." For example, "Burnt, I think trying to convince spiritualists that spirit doesn't exist is stupid, but feel free to continue!"

Actually that was a good post, Ya. Except for the end, you could have done without the saying burnt trying to convince someone is stupid

That's the point, even when we think someone's action is stupid, everybody has the right to continue doing what they do.
The wrong action is, "Let's institute a new rule that forces people to not be able to express views we don't agree with!"

Endlessness beautifully said. I personally feel that the Nexus is my second home, I have gained so much from a knowledge perspective as well as becoming a better more open and compassionate person since I first came across the Nexus. I have a great amount of respect and compassion for all my fellow Nexians as we have all chosen a difficult path of self knowledge and discovery through entheogens which is not an easy journey to embark upon. We are all one and apart of one another... Much Peace and Respect

For example, Burnt, Art, Jbark, Infun, some mods, and perhaps even The Traveler, might think Western medicine is safer. Yet others here think the number of iatrogenic deaths and complications make that route the relatively dangerous one. Both sides have the right to call each other stupid, but it is wrong for one side to institute a rule banning the other view. This is paradoxical, but logical: A moritorium on moritoriums. Stop telling people to stop saying things you don't agree with. And yes, as Gammagore wisely said, if we all concentrate on sharing our personal trip reports, there will be more peace.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm having great fun! Not with this thread, though. This thread's a bunch of bullshit.

Don't know how old ya are ya, but if you're over thirty, chances are you'd be dead without western medecine; look at world mortality rates in the middle ages. i have said it before: "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." winston churchill Like democracy, the medical sciences may not be perfect, but it's by far the best we've got. And we're all living proof of that. respect (and love!) JBArk JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

This thread is derailing!! What happened to talking about LOVE?

Stop telling people to stop saying things you don't agree with. And yes, as Gammagore wisely said, if we all concentrate on sharing our personal trip reports, there will be more peace. I don't think that you can simply say 'everything goes'. You cannot say that one opinion is as good as another. Your example is one of these cases where you even don't need to use many arguments and where you can just point to the statistic's. If a person would start to argue that statistics don't mean anything than this person would indeed be contradicting himself and you would have to ask exactly what it is about statistics that don't mean a thing. Not the outcome of the things investigated, because that would mean that in this case the safety of medicine itself is no longer the issue, so it would be the recording of data that you would object and ofcourse than the question would have to be raised why data would become meaningless once they're recorded...etc. Anyway...I think freedom of speech means that we don't sew eachother constantly when someone says something we don't like, but that leaves much oped to debate. In my view, you only start sewing someone if what he does is totally intolerable, simply because sewing someone is disproportionate in other cases. So that doesn't mean that once you decide you're not sewing someon that his behaviour is totally acceptable. It can still be unacceptable, but not unacceptable enough to take drastic measures. So when you're a liberal you agree with the above and that means that you also would have to agree with the notion of personal responsability. That means that sometimes you'd have to say to somebody:"you realy shouldn't be saying that".

I think respect is a limited form of love. Love knows many manifestations. I see sex as a form of love as well as friendship as well as empathy, etc. Many ways in wich love can manifest itself are by themselves weaker or more limited manifestations but i totally have to agree with obliguhl that love is the great encompassing principle of all these things. The direction of our desires is that we want any manifestation of it to be as strong or large as possible so that we rather would want to be 'loved' than just 'respected' but that also means that we also rather have the most mimimalistic form of love , wich could be 'respect' or 'empathy',than no love at all in any given situation.

Heres a thought. We know it is impossible(when sober) to completely understand what another nexian is trying to explain. We will never see 100% what others see, so when debates get messy and dirty, why keep trying to reply and have the last word? Just drop it....go on with something new, all you're doing is keeping the mess alive. Just drop it, haha. Lets talk about this instead. I took 2 tabs of acid at venice, and felt as if my soul was awaken to a higher state. I feel like more and more people are probably awakening....what IS this awakening???
